Hi people, I was wondering if anyone could advise me, after a recent oil change at dealers they informed me that my tyres were getting near legal limit But I can't find my locking wheel kit, I suspect its lost as It was used when front tyres were changed over a year ago. So I went to order a new kit while at the parts department who informed me that without the code card (located inside the black box which held the key), My only hope was for them to drill out the locking nuts at £56 an hour. I guess my dealer was one of the dealerships who didnt buy the master sets. Anyway I read somewhere in one of the other forums that one of the tech guys suggested PMing him with a chassis number and reg No.(to confirm its the genuine owner) and a pic of the offending nut and they could Identify the type and code so the guy could order it up from fiat again. Could anyone help.

Hi dave, it was the parts department I asked, although they are in a seperate building to the service dept, Ill ask the service guys though could be worth a go, Ill ask their techs see if they could match it first.
Good shout

Hi stu, I didnt think I could order up the code card - the parts guy sorta hinted that without the card there was nothing else he could do for me.

The standard fit keys look like mcgards. Might be cheaper to go direct to them. The story about taking a picture is legit, mcgard do offer this service

a few things

it is the responsibility of th eplace that fitted the tyres to resolve this if they lost the key

but before contacting mc gard

empty teh car and check under the seats and in spare wheel wll

does youcar have underseat storage under the passenger seat squab?

Have done rob, gutted the car at the weekend spare wheel well etc and been up to the tyre dealer with not much joy there although I cant absolutely prove if they have lost it (he said she said sorta thing). So I think I'm going round to my fiat dealer on thursday when im off, to see if their techs can help, in the meantime im thinking of sending a pic off to Mcgaurd's in germany to find out how much to make a key also.
Thanks for the info and help guys

having been there myself i can empathyse

when i was faced with doing it mc gard would accept a plasticine mould of the 'key' to make a new one

Just got a reply from Mcgaurd, so looks like the Dealer or the Socket and Hammer are my options now.
Dear sir,
thank you for your email.
We are sorry, but we cannot help you because this is not a McGard product.

Well a socket isn't going to do much as the collar around the actual nut rotates.

I'm surprised hat Mcgard wouldn't be able to make a key for it as if it's not one of their products, it appears to be very similar!

Ahh well It was worth a try though maxi, Ill try the dealers Im sure Ill get there in the end though, she'll be right

I would have assumed that - but then I would also have assumed that they would not risk dismantling an entire dashboard on the street.
Yes, but you won't get all that much for wheels compared to what airbags cost from Fiat.
