Yey...(y) its about time, hopefully not left till i can use my dockin station with blue&me !!!!

youtube.com/watch?v=uS5c1UPTbWc <--sorry aint allowed URLs yet,

It's already available... I had one but my 500 wasn't new enough... I think after July 2010 builds only!

Do you need to have a car with the dashboard connection to use the full functionality of this or could you use it via the traditional suctioned-to-the-windsreen route?

It should just be a software update.

Don't have enough posts to add links yet, but according to the German fiat500 blog they've upgraded the B&M computer's memory (and changed the option code from 4J3 to 65W). The option code for the dash port has changed as well from 54K to 68R. The claim is that the TomTom B&M link-up will only work with the upgraded computer.

Bummer if true, as I think I just missed the cut-off by a few days. (Just picked up my 500 today!)

Google for "FIAT 500 – jetzt auch mit Blue&Me TomTom" for the original article.

Jony

p.s. does anyone know how to find out the production date and option numbers? Can you look it up from the chassis number somewhere, or something?

You'll be able to use the suction adaptor if you don't have the dash port - the video shows the TomTom works with all functions even if you take it out of the port.

One word of warning though - in the Misc/Navigation section there is a thread where someone with a dash port couldn't get the TomTom working (and neither could the Fiat garage)....it seemed that his car was built just before the July 2010 change and therefore was told the Blue&Me Tomtom wouldn't work fully (and got his money back).

That would be me!
