Just ordered a 1.4 byDIESEL in Black, yellow calipers, to replace the 1.2 Yellow Sport we bought in 2008. It has done nearly 29,000 miles and as we live in Holmfirth all the gear changing is getting a bit much.

Does anyone know if the car will have the latest Ford KA suspension?
The car will be a new build and hopefully will arrive before the new VAT rate.
Information of any other changes which may be in place by then would be welcome.

Barry

PS. Sorry if this post gets repeated

i believe fiat added a rear anti roll bar to straighten out the 500s handling and ride for the 2010 model year- this would make it similar in that respect to the KA which had one from launch..

however the KA had significant changes made to spring/damper rates and suspension settings to provide more of a ford feel and it does feel very different to the 500 (ive owned both)...

i dont believe fiat has fitted exactly the same set up to the 500. ive not driven the new spec 500, tho i have read here that its a more satisfying drive since the changes-

you would be well placed to drive both the updated 500 and KA if the handling and ride are really important to you- as you know the 500 before the changes was fairly bouncy and had a skittish handling quality- the rear ARB should have moderated this- but the KA really has got a more grown up feel-

the BYDiesel is a beautiful car tho, and the 500s charm has always outweighed its deficiencies...

Thanks for the reply. As the DIESEL is on order we will not bother with a KA test drive. We did however test a 1.4 2008 500 lounge around Wakefield and on the M1. It felt a totally different car to our 1.2. More grip and more responsive steering. We thought we were more in control.
So possible the addition of the ARB will improve matters even more.

When it arrives I will take a photo similar to that I took in 2008. You cane see it under Barry98 posts and it is "The Yellow Peril"

Once agai thanks for the reply

All 500 1.4 16v, since launch, have been fitted with Sport Suspension, so the ride is firmer and more assured than the 1.2 or 1.3 MultiJet.

The Anti-Roll Bar has been standard on all models since December 2009 production.
