Hi all,

Had a very low speed bump on Monday. No damage other than a cracked number plate and a broken front fog lamp. I only found out it was broken when I poked it and sliced my finger open

God only knows why the woman I drove into stood on her brakes AFTER entering an empty traffic island, but sadly it still counts as my fault. 10 years of accident-free motoring broken, but at least my no claims is protected.

However, I was wondering if anyone had tried to replace the fogs and has any useful insights. Is it a bumper off job, or can it be done without?

Also it has dislodged the bulb in the DRL which is now rattling around in the housing. Anyone any thoughts as to how on earth I can fish that out?

The honest answer is that it is your fault ... When being trained we are always told to ensure that we leave enough distance for the person in front to emergency brake, and we still have sufficient time and space to brake under control.

I'm not saying you are alone in this - I almost went into the back of a Jag, which came up to an empty roundabout, slowed down, and then started going ahead only to then for some reason stop suddenly (on the roundabout) - whislt I doing my final right check .. fortunately I was able to brake in time - but as my (annoying) OH pointed out - if I had left a bigger gap it would not have got to that

Yes, I know it was my fault and have already admitted as such. I've been kicking myself all week about it.

However, has anyone got any useful information for the question in hand?

Had a quick look at the e-workshop manual; it says you prise out the outer trim around the foglight, unbolt it & then unscrew the foglight, disconnecting the wiring as you go. Looks to be straightforward & doesn't require bumper removal.

There's a link to the e-manual in the downloads section.

Just done this on a Renault Kangoo - pattern replacement foglight for about £22 from fleabay.

Hope this helps

Many thanks. After a quick look at the weekend, I suspected as much, but didn't want to snap the plastic fixings in case it came out from the back.

I'll now have a look at the manual and see what I can take apart and put back together for no apparent reason :)

I can't find the link to the e-manual you refer to. Can you be more specific about twhere it's located.

I had my DRL dislodged too, as I was hit by another car. Please see this tread:

https://www.fiatforum.com/newbie-central/422945-help-dislodged-dlr.html (post #6 ) for photos. If you need to replace the fogs /DRL lights I belive you need a bumper off.
As all my expense was covered by the other car insurance I got a new (Abarth) bumper installed by a local Fiat workshop. Today it looks like this:

If the bulbs rattling about inside the light fitting try removing the bulb holder and use a vacuum cleaner with a hose to suck the bulb out.

Sorry didn’t realise it was such an old thread, just bought an Abarth and was browsing how to get at the fog lights.

Sadly bumper off job to renew
But
It's relatively very easy to remove and refit
4 bolts above
3bolts below
1 bolt in each inner wing
2 screws each in inner wings and 2 screws underneath and full bumper is off
Good luck
