Hi,

My poor old Seat Ibiza ('98) has recently starting dying a slow painful death (lots of varied engine problems - though to be fair it does have 180,000 km on the clock) and am thinking on replacing it with a Fiat 500 after falling in love with it's style (i love the retro look). I would like a Yellow 1.2 Sport with the two tone rims however i'm on the fence whether to go ahead and order it or wait for the twin-air engine. From what i read the twin-air looks promising and i don't want to order the car only to regret not waiting a few months later.

My decision basically rests on three factors :

a) when will the new engine be available

Sources online seem to state either July or September however I'm not sure whether this refers to the left hand drive models. Does anyone know whether the right hand drive models should come out at around the same time? (I live in Malta so once the uk model is out we should get ours too)

b) I'm really set on the sport trim however the geneva model was in lounge trim and it's not clear whether the trim can be selected or whether this is like the stop&start model with specific trim. Does anyone know whether the engine will be available for all trim models?

c) Price. I'm assuming the new engine will be higher priced than the 1.2 but lower than the 1.4. Here in Malta there's a 3000 euro difference between those 2 so hopefully it will be closer to the 1.2. Also it's not clear whether all the engines be available or whether the twin-air will replace all the others

Any thoughts on the above?

Thanks and well done on the forum been having lots of fun going through it :)

The twinair engine will be available in all trims I would assume. Other than that I can't really say much esle :)

Thanks. I was hoping for that too and it would seem logical, I was just concerned because if i'm not mistaken the Stop & Start model has it's own particular trim

Over here the Start Stop was in a sence a 1.2 Lounge without the glass roof, although its been discontinued here now as all models have start stop as standard, All three trims and all three current engine types.

It is anyones guess about the prices when the engines come out, nothing has been hinted to so far with that.
