It makes good reading for us 500 owner but.... "the 50 best cars are as follows. Grouped into Sporty(S) Practical (P) Eco(E) Mainstream (M) City(C) and Luxury(L)"

"The best cars" meaning what exactly? Best to drive, best for economy, best in safety, best looking, best in speed, best in resale, best in longevity, best equiped, best in comfort and so on..........

I'm sorry to be wearing my sceptic hat today, but that classification means pretty much nothing without (at least more) explanations.

No probs Rob, I was (and still am! :D) questioning The Indy, not you reporting it, don't worry. ;)

Yeah I did go before replying and saw nothing to really help me understand. It is very very very vague and therefore subjective.
So there you have it, the IQ and I10 are better city cars than the 500. Well, The Indy says.

well it can't be only be on sales figures as the 500 has certainly sold more than the IQ

(tried to look for latest sales stats but googl didn't like me today...)

I had the IQ top of my list above the 500 before I drove them both. No contest after, 500 was so much better where it mattered, on the road.
I bet they used some sort of points scoring system to arrive at that list, though I have no idea what its based on. That's why it looks a bit random.

Certainly some intriguing choices in there, but I suppose they wanted to provoke some healthy debate!

Can't believe the Ford Fiesta isn't on the list at all, it's been the biggest seller of 2009 and recognised in most places as a really good car? Still, glad we're at 18 with our wonderful "City" car!(y) And rightly so!

Slightly bemused with the "Mainstream" category - are they just boring cliche cars then??;). Not sure I'd be delighted to win an award for being mainstream, haha!

This is what's known as "filler" in the media world. It's the sort of thing that's knocked up in 5 minutes so the pagination isn't all to pot. The Daily Mail has about 60 pages of it in every issue
