I noticed this evening a new warning I have never seen before.

I have recently (2 days ago) updated B&M to the latest version, and I have just got a warning saying "Low Fuel" (or something similar) whilst at the same time winding the display brightness up to max brisghtness just to catch my attention as the car reached 1/4 tank left, I have never seen this before in 2 years of 500 ownership.

Mine does this, but not until you've been driving on quarter tank for a while and you're down to the last 2 notches. It also beeps when it reads "WARNING LOW FUEL" does yours beep as well?

Didn't notice a beep, but then I was in max concentration mode as I was out for a drive, just for the sake of it, and the lanes were a little icy so I'd not notice if it did.

I'll run it down next time and listen out.

My fuel light lights up at 79 miles, then at 35 miles the display comes on and it beeps loudly at me. I've not seen this new message yet though!

when lights are switched off does dashboard lights switch on automatically when you go into dark places. i'm not sure but i kinda remember it happening in early days of my ownership but it doesn't do it anymore.

when lights are switch on, the dashboard speedo light will turn on if you're in a dark enough area. but if it is sunny or what have you no light will turn off.

when the lights are off, all dashboard speedo lights will be off.

i believe this is the gist of it. (this what you're after?)

Also i am yet to see such message on mine too...how long must you go to see it?

in metric version, it beeps and reads "warning low fuel" extacly when range hits 100 km (and goes blank). it makes 100 km more after that to about 500-520 km since last fuel up. i never pushed further because fuel gauge shows empty (not even a single bar). it takes 32-33 litre of fuel at that point, so it may keep running for about a 40 km since the tank is 35 litre but it's not worth the risk of course..

Seems to be a bit of confusion here Mark,

As someone who's never filled up before the car pretty much shows empty I'm fairly used to this :) At 70 miles range the little amber fuel indicator comes on and beeps at you. When you start the car up after this I think it it beeps as well and flashes the message again to alert the driver again. At 30 miles to go the range goes blank and the car beeps loudly. Always did this on my car before the latest version of B&M :)

Strange - I have never noticed mine beep. Must pay special attention this time round.

Mine def doesnt beep when the fuel light comes on....

but then ive never been below 58 miles of range left......maybe when you go down further it beeps?!

Yes it beeps when you've only got one or two of the last notches left. The last quarter tank is split into 3 notches, one large one, then two smaller ones, it usually beeps when the last two are showing, sometimes just the last one. I've never run below this, but i believe the last tiny notch also disappears! (ask Maxi, he got 42 litre into the A500 once! Best i've managed is 38L)

You just need to fill it up fully and then run it dry. Believe me I'm not doing this to make people run out of fuel! :p
