We have had our car for less than a week and we have had problems closing the front drivers door and this evening we have noticed condensation inside the top of the rear lights. Has anyone else had this problem?

thanks

The rear lights on alot of cars are not sealed to such a degree that it will prevent mositure ingress. We have had an awful lot of wet weather recently, if you put some wet jackets in the boot, thats probably why the lights steamed up. Just run with your lights on for a while and the bulbs will burn the moisture off.

Problems closing the door? Explain? Don't worry about the rear lights, you will get a little condensation, nothing to worry about.

Hi guys.....not sure I agree with the condensation in the rear light... I have had many cars over the years and never had this issue... We have not had anything damp in the boot or the car so the lights are a mystery. My wife had the door issue... She has said that the door open light stayed on the dash and it took three attemps to get the door shut... This could be just getting use to closing the door I suppose.

thanks

The 500 very occasionally gets condensation in the rear light. like I said, nothing to worry about and it'll be gone soon.

The lights are more exposed to the outside than the inside of the car. Both the rear lights and DRL lights get condensation inside them from time to time. Every car I've owned has done something similar. It should disappear within a few hours.

If it stays there, get to the dealer and they can fit a new light unit for you.

the lights are sealed from the outside elements, on the inside they are open, just behind a piece of carpet / grommit / trim, this is where the moisture gets in unless they are defective.

Check that you dont have a water leak in the rear of the car, damp carpet etc from a badly fitted grommit, sealer etc.

Further to this with all the rain and the fact that we had a bit of sunshine today I had a tiny bit of condensation in both rear lights in exactly the same place as MissR's car. As everyone else has said, nothing to worry about.

As Lloyd stated, there is no access to the lights from inside the car. To get at the bulbs you need to undo the two screws visible when you open the hatch and then pull the inner part of the light towards you so that it comes free of the two locating pins which push into two grommets in the rear wing. It is a five minute job to remove and refit the units and when you have them removed you will see that it is just metal behind them and no access to the interior of the car.

Not on the 500 they're not, you have to take the entire light unit off the back to change a bulb. It's the first car I've had with this set up!
