I know that it's only a wee car, but having had them on my last car and seeing as how they came as standard on my 500c I'm used to using them.

However, it's not a very loud beep compared with my last car, does anyone know if there is a way of adjusting the volume on them?

I have never had a car with them before so feels a bit strange to me. I find myself stopping as soon as it even starts to beep and then get out and discover I am still miles away from anything. To be honest though the 500 is so small that even if you park well away from another car in a car park the bonnet is still well back!

I presume the beep becomes more intense or rapid the nearer you actually get to hitting something? Haven't been brave enough to try it out:eek:

Lol yep, it gets faster and then when really close is a constant sound.
I've never had them before but the windscreen was tiny compared to my old car so thought they would be needed. Glad I got them but haven't 'needed' them as much as I expected I would x

The safest way to check the sensitivity to distance is to put the car in reverse gear (whilst stationary with handbrake on wearing a hard hat and steel to capped boots, LOL. - just in case there are any H&S people looking in) and with the ignition on, open the hatchback/roof to make it easier to hear and walk up to each sensor in turn.

You will see that it starts to beep whilst still quite far away and when the sound goes solid that will give you an idea of the distance you can still travel before hitting anything. (y)

....and after the constant sound, the car stops going in reverse any more and the engine stalls! ;)

Maybe I will put the kids behind the car, reverse towards them and ask them to let me know when I hit them so I can hear and note what the sound was like at that moment for future reference:D
