Just picked my 500 up yesterday.

Whenever I get in the car and start it, the stereo comes on. Even if I've previously turned it off.

It's not the end of the world but is pretty irritating.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I think there might be a setting deep in the menus.

Quite a few new owners think they have faults with their B&M systems - and then they read the manuals - or ask on here :D

Good luck - it's worth the read. I won't tell you the ending and spoil it for you though :D

before turning off the engine, make sure the media player is turned off by saying the command stop. then turn the radio off as norm. . . then turn off engine.

My car does this if you leave the USB stick in. It also comes back on if you try to turn the stereo off just after you start the engine.

Take out the Memory Stick.

In my opinion the systems in these cars have that Microsoft feel (don't quite work).

As above as even if there is not a USB drive connected the radio will still show "media player" on the display when you switch the ignition on and then settle on the last selected radio station and start playing.

Just check the display when you next get in the car and if that is the case just press the windows button on the steering wheel and say stop as grungdog says or "media off."

Please post if this solves the problem as this then helps others.

Thanks for all your input, I'll check this solution out just as soon as I get my Blue&Me reset (it currently won't take any voice commands!).

I'll post to let you know the result.

SOLVED!

Solution (as stated above):

  • Press the voice key
  • Say 'Stop'
  • B&M lady says 'Stopped' and then it switches to the radio.
  • Switch the radio off with the on/off button as normal and it won't come back on when you next start the car.
Thanks to grungdog23 and everyone here who helped. It's a minor thing I know, but was irritating. The way you do it, is a little convoluted if you ask me, but hey, Fiat seem to think it logical and it works so...
