Hi all, just wondered if anyone else had experienced problems with this?

Got my car in March and it's been wonderful - no probs at all except the odd scratch on the paint. However, walking to my car on Friday the buttons weren't working to open the car or boot. I figured maybe the battery had gone so opened the car manually and put the key into the ignition. The car wouldn't turn on and the locking/system code warning light was on. In the end I had to get someone to bring me my other (without buttons) key in order to get home.

The dealer I bought it from seems to think that the cars computer has stopped recognising the keys code and i'm taking it in tomorrow for it to be fixed - does anyone know how long this might take as "don't know, couldn't say at all" didn't really give me much of an idea! Also why would it suddenly have stopped recognising the key? The car's only 6 months old!

Hi there - I have absolutely no idea what the cause could be but hope your dealer can get it sorted for you PDQ ).

I'm sure someone on here will have an idea what's wrong......

Maybe your key has been near a large magnet (like some tills have for removing tag etc) and this has wiped its memory? If it is the key it should be easy and quick enough to re-code.
Not to sure about things if it is the car though...

Apparently the micro chip in the key's stopped working or something - have to get a new key ordered and recoded. The dealer said a few people have had the problem, but not many... At least the other key's working so I can still drive it!
