I have just changed my order from a 1.2 pop, to a 1.2 Start&Stop. Was I crazy not to have let this thread put me off the idea???

Just a Quick Question Once the warning lights have come on - will they go off once you've travelled forwards a couple of hundred metres without switching off and restarting.
I only ask because I remember reading somewhere in the dim and distant past (probably about the VW polo) that the ss has to be inactive by law when the car is in reverse as you are deemed to have better control when reversing in carparks etc if the engine doesn't keep kicking in and out.
May explain why its happening but not why its not re-setting properly.
I can't see why the garage can't just change my car to a standard 1.2 manual.

From what I've read there IS a problem with S and G. Fiat and Bosch are working on it, but, it can be disabled and the car used as normal. I'd do that and wait until the fix is sorted.
Oh; and make sure your dealers are informed that you want to kept updated and won't let the problem rest. At the moment, from what I read here, the dealers are running round like headless chickens, unable to fix something they have no understanding of. If this is so it isn't the dealers' fault, but Fiat's. However, the fix will come soon enough, so be patient.
I was so tempted to change my order to a S&S, it would be perfect for me in theory... but I just can't bring myself to do it. Do these cars drive fine with S&S turned off?
It's a tad unfair to paint the Tech's as idiots- they can only go from whatever information Fiat/Bosch have supplied regarding working parameters, operating procedure, etc.
I never painted the techs as idiots. They are doing what they can with the inadequate information given to them by Fiat. I said it isn't the dealers' fault, but Fiat's.
I mean, has anybody been told that you shouldn't be driving your car on safety grounds, or have you been told that it's ok to carry on driving it and they'll just let you know when there's a fix?
with S/S off you wouldn't notice any difference to a normal car.
I think that answers the question, unless, of course anyone who is driving with it switched off has noticed any other anomalies.
Also, I think a few people have chosen the S/S model primarily for the extras you get over the standard POP so driving it with the S/S switched off won't be such a pain for them as for the people that specced it primarily for the eco savings.
Hang on in there and hopefully the solution will be forthcoming in the near future.
Has anybody got any feedback from Fiat or their dealer to advise what we (the consumer) should be doing about the issue?

The last I heard from our dealer is that they thought they'd fixed it, after keeping it for a week, and we found out the next day that it wasn't fixed, when driving it. We decided the best thing to do was to just keep driving it until we spot a reproducable pattern, so we can show the dealer, they can fix it, and test it.
What have you other s'n's owners been told? What situation are you in now?
i must point out that the s and s is lounge spec without the glass roof!!!..its the same price, but features different alloys!
being pedantic!
Sorry! I thought that I had read that the trim options were more varied and some people preferred the seat colours/ambiences you could only spec with the S/S and that was their prime reason for going that route.

Yup, that's why we were going for it... you can get the pop seats.
Basically it's a lounge without the roof and different styling. All info online and in the brochures should be discounted and you should just try and get it from a reputable source... ie this forum!
crabman
how are the pop seats different?...just out of interest....would i have them in my S and S?
i have an ivory and red interior!
