Had the orange engine warning light come on twice yesterday. Rang dealer but they were shut 'til Monday. Read manual to find that it is probably a fueling problem and that it is OK to carry on driving albeit carefully. As I don't ever rev the engine high so when I had to use it I didn't notice any performance differences, not like you might if it had gone into the "limp home" mode.

After I got home I switched engine off and went to open garage doors and when I restarted the engine the light went off as normal.

This has happened twice now so can anyone tell me if the ECU will have stored a fault code so that when Fiat dealer checks with the examiner they will be able to (hopefully) diagnose the fault or is it a case of them needing to test the car whilst the light is actually on?

Just get it to your Dealer, they'll hook it up and read the Fault Code which it would have stored.

Had a similar thing on my 1.2 Lounge; Engine Management light came on the day after I picked it up but went out again on the next journey. Took it to the dealers who said the car was reporting an intermitant fault on the Coil. Part ordered and fitted the next day in 10 minutes.

take to dealer, chances are a software update (if available) will cure it.

Nope. It was the EOBD/INJECTION SYSTEM FAILURE light which, according to the handbook means that the injection system is not working properly.

EOBD is emission so could be DPF...or EGR etc, only one way to find out

Rang dealer and their advice was to monitor the situation and if it happens again to book it in for a diagnostic check. If it doesn't then I am to mention it when I book it in for it's first service in May.
