Fiatforum.com rules updated

It seems in recent months we have had a lot of issues with people claiming not to know the rules of FIATForum.com in an effort to sort this a new sticky has been created.

Be aware ignorance is not an acceptable excuse, and due to the growth in the 500 section, rule strictness will be increasing.

http://www.fiatforum.com/rules.html

With regards to the infractions list, in general first offences will dealt with by PM or official warnings. Second offences will be points leading to or causing enforced holidays from the forum.

However as long as we are all excellent to each other we should have no problems.
This thread will remain unlocked should there be any questions.

Its probably me I should think! Seriously, I hadnt read the rules so thanks for the link, Ive scanned them now! Though I had to look up what "trolling" was, as it seems way serious, so I wondered if it had any connection to "dogging", but it seems it hasnt!

Beast:

what are "trolling" and "flaming"?

Also I didn't realise that FAO posts were naughty and about 3 months ago I put one on there which was then deleted by a moderator (NP from memory) and I got a PM telling me that I shouldn't do it - did I get any points against me???

Re: Fiatforum.com rules updated

Trolling is basically only posting to to cause disruption. A major forum no no.
Flaming is specific attacks on members this is also a major no no.

Heidi you do not and have not had points against you.

This is nobodies fault that this has happened especially here in the 500 section. It's been a small issue that keeps coming up across the entire forum. The team has since decided it's time to straighten a few things out. Posts identical or very similar will be appearing across all sections, so don't think anyone here is being singled out.

How do you know if you had any points given to your account?

Thanks for the info as mentioned before we newbies may not know the rules.

Anyone who gets an infraction will receive a private message. It will tell you what rule has been broken, where it was broken and if points have been issued it will tell you how many.
Now on your user profile I can see a series of tabs statistics, messages, friends, contact info, my vehicles and infractions. Someone will need to confirm for me if you can see the same. As obviously being a forum moderator I can see many things normal members can't and I'm not sure if that tab is one of them.

However as infractions are a private thing I do know for definate one member cannot view another members infractions.

Also everyone has seen the rules.
You saw them and agreed you had read and understood them when you signed up.
It's like the stickies. Nobody reads them either, hence this is a normal thread for the time being. Once I'm convinced enough have seen it. I'll stick it and it can be ignored like all the others.

Re: Fiatforum.com rules updated

To add to this, the 500 section is one of the best on the Forum... its very friendly and I think good natured. Some of the other sections have frequent arguments and nastiness, we dont and Im sure itll stay that way.
As Beast said, there was just the one little thing and to keep things happy just read the rules.
For me, I am a very laid back moderator and let a lot of stuff go... in fact Ive only ever infracted one member in here and Id like it never to happen again
It may seem harsh having these rules etc, but without them Forums tend to degenerate into very abusive and horrible places.
Ta!

Re: Fiatforum.com rules updated

for example if i titled a post "FAO Grimwau" and was asking you something personally, you should send a PM. (I posted one I think for someone wondering if they'd got their car and I got told off by NP and told I should have sent a PM). HTH. H.
Thanks grimwau thanked for this post
