This afternoon, just after I started my 500 1.3 diesel (800 miles on the clock)a warning appeared on the read out. Check Glow Plugs. The car is driving perfectly and starts immediately. In the morning I am setting off on a 1000 mile journey so won't have time to call into the dealer.

My guess is that perhaps one of the glow plugs has failed or the fuse (if there is one) for them has blown. As the weather is warm, I am not too concerned if it is just a malfunction of the glow plugs and will get to my dealer on Monday.

Any techies know of this warning message etc.

Thanks for your prompt reply. On my Merc Diesel is was just a matter of checking continuity on each glow plug to find one that is open circuit - is it the same prodedure on this engine?

same,I do it from control box multiplug. Its under warranty so let garage do it.

Thanks for that. Would you agree that it's ok to drive over the weekend as I understand they only affect start up?

aslong as EOBD(engine)warning light isn't on I dont see a problem.
