Question '500' Sill Plates On Lounge

Hi,

Was up at Fiat again looking at the 500 again today. Mum is really keen on it now having decided pretty much what she wants except colour Had a testdrive of the 1.2 today and have to say that having driven the 1.4 only a week or so ago I was quite impressed with it. Not going to set the tarmac on fire but you can't fault it for it's willingness and refinement - suits the 'retro' look of the lounge and pop trims anyways.

One question however - the sill plates on the sport as you open the door. Can these be fitted on a lounge and if so how much are they? Seems to be no mention of them in the brochure or on the Fiat site?

Cheers,
Mark

EDIT - part number would be good also

Available only as a spare part on the Sport not as an option on other trims in the range. Should have no problem adding them to a lounge though. Not sure about the price, they are expensive for what you get approx £100, but I believe the part numbers are: 735452441 & 735452442 left and right side.

Cheers for that. So it would have to be something fitted by the dealer and not the factory? I presume it is just bonded on? Does anyone think they would attract corrosion i.e. water under them etc?

I can't see them being bonded on, more likely just clipped over the outer/inner sill edging. The reason I say this is that I believe nuovapanda had them fitted to his car initially but I seem to recall he mentioned that they were removed by the dealer before he collected it. I would imagine that if it was a difficult job they would have left them on, check with NP to clarify.

As opposed to the optional kick plates the 500 plates attach to the plastic inner sill therefore corrosion is not an issue. ( not saying there is a known issue with the external plates as they are all bonded )

The ones fitted and then "stolen" from my car were just fixed on using sticky pads, as there was some residue left where the dealer had removed them

Have they ordered you a replacement set? Do you know how much they cost? Sounds like they are just stuck on then and not bonded... Supose that makes it better in a way as the dealer is less likely to mess it up when they stick them on!

Can anyone confirm the part numbers and prices above for me?

I just thought they looked pretty nice and would protect the sill - I know mu car has marks all over the sills from people getting in and out. If they are stuck on and they get wrecked that's even more of a bonus in a way as you could just replace them

Anyone ordered them for their Lounge/Pop?

See above, at the risk of repeating myself.

I have them fitted and was charged £70.

Please note as stated before they will not protect the painted sill as they are affixed to the inner plastic sill.

The ones pictured are placed on the metal part of the sill closest to the door and have thge part numbers shown previously. Are quite flimsy so need careful transporting. They were £39 a pair prior to the Fiat price increases so now just over £40 I presume.

OK big thanks for confirming that

So they are around £40 the pair - I presume the £70 you quoted earlier was for them plus the fitting?

Casting my mind back the £70 included a few other fitting charges.

Try having a look at the ones on nuova500shop.com, they're the ones that sit on the metal and not the plastic, i think i'll go for these

Re: '500' Sill Plates On Lounge

Hi, The 500 sport sill plates are stuck to the sills by double sided tape, clean the surface first before fitting, its straight forward and easy to do, cost is about £41 including vat from the dealers, just make sure they are straight and just under the rubber seal or they will protude over the edge of the sill.
