My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

The carpet on the drivers side from front to back is soaking, water everywhere and I've no idea where it's coming from. All fluid levels are fine, have had no drinks or anything that could have caused it so has anyone any ideas???

Oh and it hasn't rained here for days either. A mystery this one....

Couldn't be anything to do with the air con could it? It seems to me the only wet thing that doesn't have a level check.

Re: My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

Didnt someone else have a similar leak????? sorry cant remember who or what it turned out to be......so that will be no help whatsoever then .........

Mine's just had a coolant leak fixed and then 2 days later a faulty seatbelt sensor that beeped continually even when the belt was in...drove me mad!!! hoping not to have to see the dealer for quite a while after spending hours there!!!!

Re: My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

I remember years ago I had a Renault 19 and one day, I could see water reflecting on the windows - the rear footwell was full of water! .... it was where the windscreen washer pipe fed down the side of the car to reach the back had disconnected. Probably unlikely the case here but worth a thought?

Re: My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

I'd get the dealer to check your aircon (if fitted). Could be a dink in a hose or somethng thats split.

Same thing happened in my last Alfa.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

Re: My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

it seems it has happened when the car has been sat in the dry without engine running

does it smell of screen wash or antifreeze

if not then it has to be rain water or air con evaporation

turn the car on with air con running if you have it and see if you an see it coming out the bottom of the heater box area

either way time to visit the dealer

sorry to hear of such horrors on a new car

Re: My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

Yes fortunately! There was a tube completely missing in the climate control that carries all the moisture away so consequently it just landed on the carpet instead.

They have ordered a complete new carpet and mats for me and as soon as they arrive its going in to be stripped, dried, new tube fitted and new carpets.

Long job, about 4 days apparently.

Re: My 500 has sprung a major leak!!

4 days, coor. But atleast they're not going to try and bodge it into 1.

It's surprising what the lack of one little pipe can do , Could have been something worse I suppose though.

Ah, but how long to dry it out ?

I don't seem to remember seeing 500s advertised as 'drip dry'
