If one more person comments on what a bad idea a 500 is

Another so called friend (LOL) has just sent me a message to say they've seen a 500 in the flesh at last and, I quote, "blimey it's tiny, the boot and the back seats are really small".

I KNOW - THAT'S WHY I'M GETTING IT!!! I love teeny weeny cars, hate my tank of a CMax I've got. It's only for me and the little one to zip around in - it's not meant to be our family car! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Sorry but it's just starting to annoy me now - anyone got any other 'comebacks' I can come out with to shut them up?!

Re: If one more person comments on what a bad idea a 500 is

It is usually boring blokes that know naff all about cars and/or style that make stupid comments. One bloke at my work said - "they are made of candyfloss aren't they". Ha blummin ha.

They are just twits that have the hump that:-

a. you are getting a brand new car;
b. a girl knows more about cars than them; and YES
c. such a silly little thing IS car of the year

Don't get angry - just smile sweetly

You have nothing to get angry about. Smile, laugh, hell point and piss yourself if you want.

What genuine arguments can anyone have against the 500?

Oh it's a small car with a larger than expected boot.

Why would you buy a car that looks good when you could have spent less and gotten something ugly?

It's economical and safe. Why in the hell would you want something like that?

there "bigger" cars will be worth nothing next year when the huge car taxes come into full force and petrol costs £2 a litre. at least you'r not a bmw driver in a de badged 3 series thinking you'r special, or worse a new mini driver. or "my cars got style you'rs is vile" capeesh

Just ask what they drive, then when they tell you just smile knowingly and make no comment, that normally gets em going A guy at work has just shelled out 11k for a Polo, I mean a Polo... it made in Spain for petes sake!
Only had one negative remark about it, and the guy drives a Focus with a rotten rear door

Heidi, its all about style and taste.

Cash can't buy either, you either have it or you don't, sounds like your friends don't have it ....

But we may be just a teeny bit biased on here.

Re: If one more person comments on what a bad idea a 500 is

The one guy at work who said he hated my 500 drives a faded red old Vauxhall Corsa. 'nuff said.

It is generally people with ****e cars or expensive to run cars who knock the 500. Just enjoy the smugness

Like you, most of the time it is just me and my young son in my car, he has plenty of leg room and his pushchair fits in the boot so why would I need anything bigger?

Some people carriers seem to have less practical boot space than the 500!

To add a point - the ones that sneered about my Minis/Smart cars/Fiat 500 never seemed to notice my stunning red Alfa Sportwagon, it was INVISIBLE! Apart from the ones that said they are unreliable/fall apart.

Dreadful thing jealousy.

Unless you are up against a Polo Bluemotion owner just snigger at the thought of the extra he will cough up every time he fills up and his comparative MPG - if he IS the bluemotion owner snigger at his lack of taste !!!!

Re: If one more person comments on what a bad idea a 500 is

The 500 is the way forward for cars in my opinion. Big cars are OUT and small cars are very much IN (they always have been, for me) The smaller the car, the more of a personality it has. The 500 deserves all the plaudits it gets from enthusiasts. When I pass a petrol station and see all those behemoths manacled to the petrol pump, it'll all become apparent.
