Day 118 of 122 Days

4 months or 17 weeks or 2928 hours or 175,680 minutes or 10,540,800 seconds from signing the order form and this Friday I will be the proud owner of my new 5oo.

At times I've had a frustrating lack of information from my dealer and many calls/emails unreturned or not replied to but this week my dealer seems to be trying to redeem himself (he called me 3 times today ). If I were cynical I may think that this was because he was about to kindly take the weight of £12,000 off my hands but I am sure it is because he is dedicated to his customers - not hell bent on commission.

All that aside, at least I've only had a month's delay and I'm actually getting my car. I, like other males on here, did originally have some concerns about the car not being suited to men but I am getting this car for me so that doesn't bother me now.

The wait is almost over but I think the next couple of days are going to really drag...

Personally I think the car is suited to both men and women .. .it's a style icon, a statement that you dare to be different from the other people around who buy small cars that all look very similar. My hubbie says will be quite happy to borrow it when i need the big family car - that's why i let him have a say in the colour (well he thinks he had a say anyway - typical wife behaviour and say you really want the opposite knowing husband will do the opposite and then you get the colour you really want )

The 9 week wait, for mine to arrive, seemed to drag on forever. Yet the 3 months since I've taken delivery of it, have just flown by.

Ah man, Friday for the 500, lucky guy. I'm just behind you. My Black Lounge 1.2 (v similar to yours) was at 'Status Code' 40 (in the UK but not checked and not ready for transport) on Monday afternoon. I hope it gets on the transporter in the next few days. Come on 'Status Code' 60.

Any idea how long a 500 normally sits around at Code 40 for? What do they need to do to it at the Docks?

It feels like Christmas! - definitely a sleepless night tonight! I wish I was collecting it first thing in the morning - off to work first then got the afternoon off so then it's straight to the dealership to put an end to my carless week and all this waiting!

Kj, not sure what happens at the docks, I think I read somewhere that some fitting of options goes on? Or I could be completely wrong! That's apart from the obvious stuff of getting things cleared with Customs and sorting out transport to the dealership. My car was there for around 10 days according to my dealer. Anyone know what exactly goes on at the docks?

OMG i'm so excited to get mine, it shud be next week unless there is something wrong. I know how you must be feeling. I got up at 11:45 last night to check i ordered chrome mirrors 'cos i dremt i hadnt. i'm going to explode!
