Oh bum, kerbed an alloy:(

I havent kerbed a wheel in years, honestly! Parked the 500 in a bay tonight and tried to get far away from another car... didnt notice the low kerb on the other side and crunch went my rear wheel Its left a nasty 3" gouge, which on a diamond finish wheel looks awful. For now Ive rubbed it down and protected it with some silver touch up....

any ideas how I could make this look better without resorting to a professional, or should I just leave it, as cars do get marked if you use them. Ive only done 260 miles, Im gutted.
Im also very embarrased.

I have seen those dodgy kits on ebay but have no experience with them. Bet you could get it refurbed for £30-40 if on the silver

Re: Oh bum, kerbed an alloy:(

Im gutted for you man!

To be fair with those style wheels its really hard to get a good repair done, some of the wheel repair companies i have dealt with in the past will not do those style wheels.

And if its concelation my 500 arrived today, but all of my two tone wheels are tarnished in some way, so now i have to put a claim in for four new ones!

Re: Oh bum, kerbed an alloy:(

Oh well, I might just try and wet and dry it flat, then laquer it.... it was bound to happen as the rims get hardly any protection from the tyre and this kerb was exactly right for gouging it.

Gutting but thought you were after different wheels anyway?
Or did that change with the order?

Sorry to hear that NP .. chin up. Like Beast says, you can get new ones now!!??

It's sod's law again - it never happens to your old car, just your brand spanking lovely shiney new one, when you are only trying to be careful anyway! Chin up.

Re: Oh bum, kerbed an alloy:(

I know how you feel. Kerbed mine a few weeks ago. Gutted when I spotted it. Annoying thing is I have been super careful with the alloys and am 100% sure I havent hit a kerb. I think it was a deep pothole I drove through once. Probably skimmed the side of it with the wheel.

Really upsets you when this happens with the car so new, but it tends to get forgotten about after a few weeks.

Re: Oh bum, kerbed an alloy:(

yea bad luck mate - easily done though, im crap at parking by kerbs so i always tend to do it before not too long. along with getting your first nick in the door paint from a public car park, its just one of those things about a new car

Ouch hope you can sort a touch up job which won't be too noticeable. Really annoying for you though.
