Nigel's chipped diesel

Hi All,

Have to tell you that I was fortunate enough to be taken out in Nigel''s chipped MJT on Sunday (Nigel from Nuova500Shop). It was an absolute hoot, so much quicker than my 1.4. Chips are available for all the models, and it may answer some respondents mpg concerns on the 1.4, I will be giving it a try in the near future and will report accordingly to you all.

Also worth noting it was fitted with 30mm lowered KW springs which really helped the roly-poly attitude on cornering.

Thank you Nigel for your time, I will be purchasing from you shortly!!!

The chip is not just about outright power for me though, 10bhp hardly going to make it a rocket, but economy gains and taking out the low speed snatch seem a worthwhile gain for the money on their own.

Re: Nigel's chipped diesel

I've read some horror stories about chipped Pandas with clutches slipping, and even gearbox failures, I wonder how much is down to the driver?

Now, I've had two Seat Toledos, both with the same 110Hp engine chipped to ~140Hp, the first one I experienced the clutch slipping on, but not on the other. The difference was that the first one did see alot rougher threatment with 0-62 tries and the like, the next one mostly experienced the odd in-gear pull on the motorway.

I'll keep a tab on the chipped 500's here, maybe I'll go down that road as well.
