I'm such a car novice that you may regard my question as that of a 'n00b'.

I'm planning a few 350+ miles trips when i get my 500 (sometime in August, i hope, will have to wait and see what Scrogg says.). Are these sort of long motorway journeys good or bad for a band new engine?

Basically, with a new engine its advisable not to drive for long periods using the same revs... you really need to vary the revs and speed for the first 1000 miles to let it bed in fully. So, if your planning those trips straight away, then its not the best way to run it in.
If you do, just keep varying those speeds etc.

Nuovapanda : I'll make sure i do them on monday morning rush hour on the M5, M6 and A1M, that will keep me at a variety of speeds and revs!

Just about to clock up 4500 since 1st March. It was only meant to be a fun 3rd car and it's put more miles on it since March than the other two!

Just bought a plate from dvla auction last week, 500 and three letters, £450! BARGAIN
