Re: Is there much 'Love' in the 500 section?

I actually find I get places quicker in my 500 than my BMW cos people let me in more. In fact I can get away with some fairly outrageous road behaviour in it. And yes I do agree, as a 40 something male, that this car is my answer to a midlife crisis.

Re: Is there much 'Love' in the 500 section?

Hay, some constructiveness (is that a word?)

I think that I'm just more used to the classic-panda section were we all get a little bit more loved up about the difference in our machines rather than moaning about how our cars are so much less (insert insult here) than citroens/minis/whatever. That, and some of them are certifiable too

And it's very different in her cause the cars are all brand new so you don't have to rely on the whole 'Help, it's broken' thing so much and a lot of you guys don't even have your cars yet which probably doesn't help much...

On the other hand, mine is still sitting in the garden somewhat unloved... I don't know what it is but I just can't find a place in my heart for it.

Maybe it's just not got enough flaws or maybe I just have to drive it to San Francisco or something, hehe!

There seems to be afictional preconseption that the 500 is a "womans" or a "gays" car (no offence intended), I'm sure being voted g'gay car of the year' recently didn't help matters.

Its OK, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a big screaming gay queen and that I do the image of the 500 no good what so ever, lol!

To make matters worse I took it out with me a couple of Saturday nights ago to my local and there was a parking sport right outside with all the 'Gayers' hanging round having a smoke and it was soo embarrassing! I just couldn't get the 500 in to this huge spot in front of the homo audience!

In the end I had the back wheel up on the kerb and the front sticking out slightly into the road showing everyone that I couldn't get a tiny little thing into a 25 foot hole thus ruining my chances of pulling that night....

Lets be honest though...... the 500 is not the most macho of cars. It doesn't exactly have power bulges, flared arches and so on. But we live in a society today where most people don't have these outdated preconceptions of what a car says about a person. As long as you don't have hot pink seat covers and flower graphics on the car I think pretty much any car is masculine enough for everyone bar some of the neanderthals which are still around to find no problem with it.

At the end of the day if you feel comfortable in it then f*** everyone else. You like it and at the end of the day isn't that all that matters? When I went for my two test drives in 500's I didn't feel at all self conscious. I've never thought a car should be bought for what other people think.

Truly hairy chested man car

Anyone's car

Re: Is there much 'Love' in the 500 section?

I think it is easier for gay guys and women thou to drive a 500 (esp one like mine with the white interior/exterior) as I don't have to justify driving an effeminate car.... It just is a sad reflection that people still see you as a nancy if because you do certain thing

Thou to be honest if I wasn't showing the car in the States I would of went for a met black car with black leather seats and trim. Yeah, I know... It's my lesbian S&M side, lol!

Re: Is there much 'Love' in the 500 section?

I bat for the other team and good thing I ordered my 500 Sport in a butch black. Let's see if it can pull in the gay village...

Unfortunately not the leather as I had to choose between that or electric sunroof. The latter won.

Pick-up on Friday hopefully

Being serious though I think the UK is too full of people in big Audi's and BMW's tailgating people to prove how much of a man they are. I think it's refreshing to see men driving a car which some of these knobs will thing is gay. One of the MD's at work has an F430 Spider but half the time he turns up to work in a very unremarkable Grande Punto. For me when I was working the drive to work and back was a boring time which I tried to get over with as quick as possible. Not a time where I tried to enhance my manhood by tailgating everyone I possibly could.

I'm well represented in the OP's post purely because some people around here frustrate me and I guess I tend to rub people up the wrong way sometimes with my style of posting. But there are lots of good people too. Yesterday I made a dumb assumption that one of the posters on here used their foglights on clear nights. Turns out I was wrong. So I said this

To which they replied

Which is the way it should be.
i had a beetle cabrio !! and i'm not a gay it was lowered and on 19"wheels... and as for gay what is "looking gay"
loads of men spending time together in shorts cuddling when they score then showering together.. sounds like a gay parade dont it
