(G) Weird - Stereo Balance or Imbalance

Was just playing with the balance control on the stereo and when I go LEFT treble comes out of the left tweeter and lower ranges ome out of the right door speaker with nothing on the right tweeter or left door speaker and vice versa with the balance set to RIGHT. It's as if the door speakers have been wired up incorrectly....

Anyone else want to have a go and let me know?

Sounds like it to me.

Obviously wired for the left hand drive models.

Just because the steering wheel's on the other side doesn't mean left and right change!

I wonder how the left tweeter and the right door spaker are producing sound when all the other speakers are off ie fade to front and balance to left. You would have thought that the left tweeter was fed from the left door or vice versa...

Even more peculiar... I have just read Mark Elvin's post about his upgrade and have discovered that his front left door speaker wires are yellow and yellow/black. That's the colour of my front right spekaer wires, so I guess it must have been wired up for LHD

I do hope I haven't got a Friday car.

I will be pulling the radio out to see if I can swap the wires over in the radio connectors as the rear speakers will be playing the opposite channels to the front, so losing the stereo effect....

Mine was the same, the L/H tweeter appeared to be wired to the R/H woofer & vice versa.

Is right not right on the continent? I thought it still was

Sounds like a cock up in the wiring looms, Maybe someone at the loom plant is colourblind!

Has anyone checked their car?

Come on... it's not that hard... press Aud on the stereo and scroll to balance using the up and down arrows and use the left and right arrows to see if your car is wrongly wired too....

I really can't believe it's suppose to be this way.

I've sorted it, but it was a tricky job All of the wiring for the front left and front right speakers comes down into the passenger footwell beside the brake servo behind the glovebox. It then crosses over to the driver's side door and tweeter unit, feeding the door speaker first and the tweeter via a crossover.

The balance control now works correctly.

The tweeters are connceted to the front door woofers with a wire that has built-in crossover units.

Have replaced the door speakers with wide full range Kenwood items. The tweeters are still the original ones and there is a Blaupunkt sub under the driver's seat. It sounds absolutely great!
