(G) Whats the best MPG from the 1.2 engine??

My car currently has over 800 miles on him however I've yet to better 46mpg anyone do any better. I have gotten to this figure by trying a little bit but not going out of my way.

Thinking of ripping out the back seats to save more weight = more MPG

For our first 2000 miles we averaged 44mpg, now we're up to 3000 it's 46-48mpg.

If you drive on mostly out of town A roads you would easily average 50+mpg.

Almost at 800 miles and averaging 44-46 mpg - mostly town and a little bit B roads... Compared to my subaru combined of 21 mpg, very pleased

My current tank is sitting at 50.5mpg

Only on 4 occasions (in nearly 4000 miles) has a tank been under 50mpg, 3 of those were the first 3 tanks when new.

I'd love to know how people get such great mpg. Mine has never done more than 42mpg and I'm now on 800 miles and I don't hammer it either. Although I do have quite a few hills to and from work which probably has something to do with it.

I haven't had better than 42.odd on the trip computer. I do get stuck in stationary traffic most day's getting into central Manchester so this may be why it's a little low. I only use one of the trip computers (I have B turned off) as it takes too long to scroll through. I reset at each full refuel.

The trip computer is a bit too enthusiastic and over estimates the MPG by about 2 MPG i'm finding when I work it out manually.

Going on a long run this b/h weekend so I'll see what it is when I get back.

Well driven 230miles today from Preston to chesterfield through the peak district and back. A mix of motorways,urban, A roads and some narrow country lanes with very steep hills that I needed to go to 1st gear in at one point. Averaged 48.3mpg and the car only has 830miles on it after today.
I was very pleased with that and hopefully should easily top 50mpg after a few more miles on if you stick to mways/A roads

i got 99 mpg going down a very large hill in fifth gear
i think 45 - 50 is about average

A astra rental car I had did 999.99mpg down a hill but sadly averaged only 32mpg

First tank was 39 point something. Now half way through second tank and on 43.8mpg

found out to-day my tires were over inflated I have got them to the right pressure so hopefully now I should get a little improvement

From Manchester to Eastbourne about 270 miles I avereraged 48mpg and got there with out the fuel light coming on. This was 60-70mph. Filled up to brim again before setting off to come back. On way back travelling more like 75-85mph I got 44mpg and the fuel light was on when I got back (about 70 miles fuel remaining). Shows the difference speed makes on consumption.

and how are softer tyres going to help, surely it will make it worse as they will have a higher RR
