| Re: Whats the best MPG from the 1.2 engine?? We are getting close to 1000 miles on ours now...... Normal day to day driving, short 10 minute run across undulating B roads returns just over 40 mpg. Last week I had it on a 190 mile mixed motorway / A road trip and managed to get the average consumption up to 52 at one point, at the end of the journey it had dropped back to 48mpg The ideal road type for the best fuel economy is a flat A road where traffic keeps your speed around 55mph Once you hit hills the mpg drops and if you speed up on motorways it drops back as well. Our average since new is just over 40mpg. I have been driving relatively easy but every now and again I like to hustle it down a B road......if you rev it to the red line it goes quite well for a small engine.

| Re: Whats the best MPG from the 1.2 engine?? Yesterday on the way home from Auto Italia, I reached the magic 500 milestone! Collected it on 23rd May with 12 miles on the odometer, and I haven't stopped grinning. Had lots of admiring looks and pictures taken of it from total strangers (and friends obviously) Best consumption achieved was 51.7mpg, and at times when I feathered the acclerator, I was getting an instant consumption reading of 99.9mpg, 83.7mpg and 72mpg. It is a petrol 1.2 as the title suggests. I could have got the 1.3 diesel but with the widening gap between unleaded and diesel and my annual mileage in mind, it would have taken me well over 19,000 miles to write off the 'extra' £1400 cost of the diesel engine. I guess once it has been run-in after 1000 miles, the engine will loosen up and consumption will improve further. I have got to say Auto Italia was quite a day out despite lack of sun. It was great meeting the fellow 500'ers and was nice to put faces to usernames on the FF! We've got to organise a 500'er meet one day.

| Re: Whats the best MPG from the 1.2 engine?? We need to establish where each 500'er lives so we could work out a common meeting point. Let's say halfway between Manchester and London, I am aware that might be Birmingham but if we get all towns in one hat, then we can work out something from that point onwards. For a start, I am in Solihull, West Midlands. I am happy to travel north, south, east or even west!

Yes, I read that already and did not mean to exclude York. I was being a bit general with a meeting zone in a 100 mile radius, and work towards a common rendezous. I'm gonig to Leeds this weekend and it will be a pleasure driving the 500 on another long distance trip! As for your clock post, this got me stumped! Only this morning I managed to adjust the clock as it was five minutes slow. Took a bit of reading the manual though!

| Re: Whats the best MPG from the 1.2 engine?? Well, as a family gal I would love some nice medow or such, maybe picnic or bbq and letting the kids out (and that is only my husband )... But I guess that other memebers who are kids-free and time-rich would want something else... Please somebody suggest something! As to where anywhere in 100km radius from here (near Farnborough, Hampshire) is fine by me...
