1.2 Sport - poor FUEL CONSUMPTION, FLASHING ISSUES AND KEY GETTING STUCK!!!

My little Fiat 500 1.2 Sport in Cha Cha Cha is a week old and is stressing me out!

I love the car but.....

The car is only doing between 200 and 230 miles to the full tank...about £30? Surely that is wrong? Fiat have said its becuase its new and burning excess stuff! That is also a lot of motorway driving as well so it should be gdoing more mileage.

The mileage started flashing yesterday but has now stopped! ANNOYING!

The key wont turn round and I have been stuck in a car park 4 times now. It wont turn over at all and I thought I was going to break the barrell!!! For some reason when that was happening I put my foot on the break and it was solid and wouldnt go down!

The Blue and Me wont download contacts or sms on my N95. Dont get why it only works with older phones! Half the time people cant hear me on it as well!

Oh - AND the radio keeps changing channels!!!

I just want it all to work!!! Is anyone else having same problems?

Don't panic. I found that my fuel consumption on the first tankful was terrible, too. I'm not sure quite why this should be the case, but the thing to do is -

Fill up. Re-set the trip (either A or B) by holding the trip button in for two seconds when the trip is displaying. Then drive sensibly for another week and see what you get.

A lot of people (including me) have had the flashing mileage problem. Switch off, start the engine again, and it goes away. Apparently a proxy realignment (done at the dealer) solves this (or should).

I don't quite understand the key problem. Is the steering lock on? In which case you need to wiggle the wheel as you gently turn the key, and it will release.

Perfectly normal for first tank or two.

Sounds like steering lock. Which will stop the barrel turning. When this happens try giving the wheel a turn even just a couple degrees holding it then turn the key.

Some phones don't have full compatibility with Blue and Me.
Which channels does the radio change to? There are setting that will automatically change the channel in certain events like when a local station does traffic reports or such like.

Re: 1.2 Sport - poor FUEL CONSUMPTION, FLASHING ISSUES AND KEY GETTING STUCK!!!

Hi Nicole

As people said above the mileage will settle to a more normal level after a couple of fill ups and a few miles on the clock.

In relation to the N95, I have mine working fine, not the message reader, just the phone. Is it an original N95 or the 8GB one? I did however have to pair it a few times to get it to read all the contacts ok. Persevere with it and it will indeed work fine.

Re: 1.2 Sport - poor FUEL CONSUMPTION, FLASHING ISSUES AND KEY GETTING STUCK!!!

If it is any consolation the Nokia N95 is a nightmare with most integrated Bluetooth systems. My bosses brand new M5 really doesn't like it - he has gone back to using his five year old Nokia and that works perfectly. The problem is that Nokia keep changing the protocols in their Bluetooth implementation and as a result no-one (even Nokia) can't keep up with them.

There is also the matter of *only* getting 230miles out of £30 of fuel - that is just over 38 miles to the gallon (going by my local prices) and is not far off what you should expect to see on a new engine. I had the same argument with my daughter and her aging 1.1 Punto, she seemed to expect to get about 100 miles per gallon for some reason...in reality her 14 year old car is still returning about the same MPG as it was quoted for when new.

Re: 1.2 Sport - poor FUEL CONSUMPTION, FLASHING ISSUES AND KEY GETTING STUCK!!!

To pair your N95s contacts to B and M, mark them all in the contacts menu, and with the phone paired, send them all as a business card to the Blue and Me listed as a paired device, that worked for me.

Nokias wont read MSGs ive found, but they do play the phones ring tone when it rings, rather than a generic ring ring type.

Otherwise my N95 works perfectly, when you are on a phone call, turn it up using the stereo control, ive found that not only can I hear better but others hear me better too.

Is this your 1st new car? Or at least modern type car?
