2gb or not 2gb that is the question!

right, heres what i`m thinking.....

i`ve seen 2gb memory sticks on sale for around £10, but should i bother cos i`ve heard that you get a free one with the 500 (ours is coming in next week)?????

what memory sticks have you lot been given by fiat? cos if they are only 1gb i`ll buy one ready for the car, if they are 2gb i`ll hang on for the freebee.

i`m not tight with money, but £10 wasted on a stick is 1/3 of a tank of petrol!

please help.........

ta

They're not even that big, which is a shame 'cos they look really good with the fiat branding. Buy your memory stick - the fiat one's only 256 I'm sure.

no it does not matter what sise it is but i believe some are a little dodgy most main brand sticks will work just fine

as far as the fiat stick is concerned it is really only intended for putting maps onto connect nav and for updating the software on the blue and me althou you can use it for some music aswell

i mean can you imagine someone buy the car and asking if fiat will sell a branded memory stick for it and being told no so they have to provide something all thou i agree it could be bigger

if i had blue and me i would need at least 10gb for all my music soit would make no difference to me

also the stick does not come free from fiat with the car it will be added buy some dealers to sweeten the deal maybe but that's it

if you really want to kerp with fiat branding maybe someone could find out what type of stick is inside the fiat branded article then buy an identicle 2 or 4 gig version and swap the casing over

I think we are thinking 2 different sticks then. Fiat branded stick is to be given to every single person buying a new Fiat. It's main purpose is to help people register their new car with Fiat. So a massive memory stick is not required.

Not totally accurate I'm afraid pip. I've got a 2GB that works perfectly, and an 8GB that it struggles a bit with. I think 4GB is about the biggest it can cope with properly.

I've got one it's 1GB. I bought it from the London Experience Centre. The price list at the time said £7.00 and I bought it although I thought it was rather expensive for a 1GB stick.

It later transpired that the pricelist was wrong and I should have paid £27.

Re: 2gb or not 2gb that is the question!

I've got half a dozen memory sticks that I use in the beast. The most effective are the branded sandisk ones. I have had no trouble with sandisk up to 8gig. They load and when needed build a music library almost instantly. The off brand ones tend to be slower, buggier, more prone to forgetting where you were when you shut the car off. The one fiat gave me is a half gig fiat branded one. It came in a nice box and I appreciate the gesture but of all my memory sticks its the only one that the car won't recognize if you plug it in then turn the car on.
