What's everyone else getting economy wise? I have just filled mine up after 200 miles and averaged 38.5mpg, nearly all town driving. Is this about normal??

We are currently getting 47mpg on our 1.2 whilst we are doing the standard car economy testing

Our tuned 1.3 returned an average of 63mpg over the past 680 miles testing in the last 2 days including over 100 miles of demo runs :)

Is that before or after it gets 'Twiddled' with? :)

Jim

Dear Sir, do you mean fine tuning if fuelling, ignition, timing etc when you say "Twiddled" :D :D

Yes, before twiddling we do standard economy testing as part of our development process :)

Aye so you've got your 1.2 then? Fantastic! Get some pics up ;)
Yes, had it a while, its completely standard at the moment as we are using it for initial fuel testing and various graphic mock ups (you should see what some people have come up with ) :D.

Usually get at least 40 but I deliver catalogues so lots of local stop start driving. Last night did a 100 mile round trip mainly motorway and averaged 52.5 which was really pleased with. Done approx 600 miles and still getting used to gear ratios.

Mines on 41.5 mpg at the minute.

180 miles on the clock but MPG figure is based on the last 80 miles because I reset the meter. This is either 15-20 miles per hour over spead bumps or motorway 75mph driving. Not really any 50-55 mph that I presume is where you get the 55-60 MPG figures

My 1.8 2004 Citroen C5 was delivering 23.5 MPG so this is miles better.

When I next fill up I have an Excel spreadsheet that you input the miles you have done and the litres of fuel bought and it tells you the MPG done. I can then compare that to what the car is telling me to see if the cars computer is accurate.

Well when I filled mine up and worked it out manually the car's computer was 3mpg optimistic.

I must be doing something drastically wrong because my fuel has dropped! Mind you I live in a hilly area so that probably doesn't help.

I've just been on my first proper run in my 1.2 lounge and averaged 49.4 which i was really pleased with. Not the perfect run - newcastle to keswick across the a69, so a bit hilly and stop start.
Around the doors it's not as great, 42 ish, mind you, have noticed big drop in fuel when getting up the 2 stupidly steep hills to my house. Have to get up in 2nd and max out at 30mph. Probably could push her more, but don't want to go mad yet, just got 600 on the clock. Will it get better when it's run in more?:)

The average we attained when we did the first few back last year got 7bhp and 9Nm, but that was only during equipment testing and training on the new ECU's, rather than spending hours developing the tuning. You wont be getting to 100bhp with just a remap though!

One thing we have been asked for by most people is improvements in delivery and response rather than adding power and this should acheive better economy, but the testing will see what the improvements are soon
