So, this bargain is not actually brand new is it... its a 57 reg, hence the discount.

The sports hardly a bargain either, just £650 off list for a used car

Re: Fiat 500 1.2 POP for £6993

I really don't think there is much profit in the 500 for the dealer, I spoke to the general manager of a dealer the other day, I just quipped that they can't make much on each car and he told me he had just sold a 1.2 pop and made only £200 on it no discount of course, they make their money on bigger cars and servicing etc.

Well they would say that wouldn't they

Look at the 5oo compared to other cars in the FIAT range with the same engines eg GP, Panda price wise and then seriously tell me that they are only making £200 on a car.

If you look around you can get up to 10% off of most cars from most manufacturers sold in the UK, sometimes even up to 15% off. Fact.

I think you'll find that most FIAT dealers are doing very nicely on the 5oo.

Re: Fiat 500 1.2 POP for £6993

I agree you will get deals on most cars, I think the dealers get better margins from fiat themselves on other models but on the 500 at the moment they aren't getting those margins so when he said he made £200 on a pop I have no reason to doubt him as I do know him quite well.

Re: Fiat 500 1.2 POP for £6993

Yeah, beasty posted a breakdown of dealer costs a while back, sounds like the profit margin is quite small even on these cars. Sounds about right that they make money elsewhere, such as servicing, bigger cars and crazy mark-ups on parts and accessories etc.

(Bit like Sony and their PS3 where they make money on the sale of the games they license rather than the unit itself.)

PS, ms cinq have you actually ordered a 500 yet?

At least it has the kudos and prestige of being sold by a Ferrari and Maserati dealer!!

After all, Fiat owns both brands.
