General NEW Discounted 500s at car supermarkets

Just go and get a better paid job... if you cant afford £7900 for a new car then you must be very badly paid:)
Why has your boss got to know how much the car is?

The average wage in the UK is just under £24,000 p.a. A lot of people are not able to fork out £7900 for a new car. Love cars as much as I do there are more important things.

Totally agree. I find it hard to justify spending more than £10K even though I could probably afford to. Like you say there are more important things in life like holidays, eating out, property etc etc. I normally buy used cars which means I can get what I want, you just have to buy older for the pricier stuff.

I'm glad to see cars are now available with a discount. Plenty of people won't be that bothered about the exact spec. As this is one of the rare times when I buy a new car I'm speccing it to what I want.....if that spec happened to be available at a discount I'd be off to wherever the discount was.

The prices are set at the moment because we all want to have a 500 so the dealers don't need to offer incentives and if Fiat prohibit discounts then unless everyone digs there heels in and stops buying them.......it ain't going to change until the demand begins to fall off.

Hello everyone. New to this so please be gentle!!

Went to my local dealer in Gloucester on Friday to look at a different car, saw about ten unregistered 500's on the forecourt - thought they were for orders. Asked a salesman, apparently Fiat had supplied them with 30 cars (cancelled orders or stock from dealers that have lost their franchise). Had a choice of colours and spec. Test drove on yesterday, decided on a Pasodoble Red 1.2 Sport with Red Leather. Not got any discount, but they a popping a few accessories on for me FOC. The best bit is that I can pick it up Monday afternoon. IMO being able to pick up a car straight away is better than getting a discount but having to wait 3 months! Also, not sure if I would have had any other options if I had ordered the car, and some can be added as aftermarket accessories.

They said they are having another 10 cars in on Tuesday. They had a mixture of 1.2's and 1.4's.

Maybe other dealers are in the same position.

When you are getting your car on Monday whilst we are still waiting since January. You expect us to be gentle!

Congrats on the purchase, you will have to redeem yourself with some pics!

What kind of statement is that do you even know how much it costs to try and get a mortgage in my area as a first time buyer i have two jobs just so i can get a house one day which will cost me £900+ a month excluding bills.

I buy Italian cars because, a) I'm an Italophile (I believe you can get cream for it and it clears up in about 30 years) and b) you can get a lot of different, interesting car for not a lot of money. But, there is always a balance to be struck. There are 2 reasons why BMWs are so popular, one is that they are seen as desirable and the 500 is definitely that and the other is that they hold their value so well. Why the high values? Well, mainly because of the desirablility, but also because BMW have managed for years to keep just the right balance between supply and demand. As soon as dealers order more than just a few in for stock they are faced with the problem of how to pay for them. I'm a bit out of touch, but dealers always used to have to pay for their stock after 90 days. Trust me, if that's still the case, then after 2 months dealer principals and accountants start to get very twitchy and start doing silly deals. If they are under too much pressure from the manufacturer to take large numbers of cars then only 1.2 Pops in base colours will end up on forecourts and the whole idea of personalised cars goes out the window. Think of how many 1.2 Active Grande Puntos are in stock at dealers as opposed to 1.4 Dynamics or 16v Sportings or even MJTs. Keeping the most popular models in stock makes sense but if the balance isn't right then the Marque suffers and the dealers go out of business as we've seen recently. Ultimately the customer suffers. You don't see Mini dealers punting their stock out of the window like they're desperate to get rid. Maybe we just need to accept that the age of the cheaper FIAT has gone.

LOL, let me explain... Ms Cinq is a bit of a nightmare on here:) Its a wind up, sense of humour etc etc:) Gawd I so hate this new PC age we live in:(

don't worry nuova, pc is sooo out...unpc is a breath of fresh air and makes for MUCH more interesting reading:D

As some have said the discounts are due to orders that have been changed or cancelled. The other thing is that demand in some places is a wee bit slower than expected. I believe that some of this is because not enough of them are on the streets yet. Once a few more of us are seen out and about on the road, the dealers will be getting much busier.

I was happy to get exactly the car that I wanted to my spec. I could have had a pre-built one that the dealer had specified but wanted to wait for my own design.

You might be right that they've got them but I just tried ringing them to see what they've got and managed to get through to the worst car salesman in the world!

Me: Hello I understand you have Fiat 500s in stock and shortly to come into stock
Him: Errrr.....no.
Me: Are you sure? It says you have on your website.
Him: Errrr..no we haven't. (Then asks someone next to him - 'we ain't got no Fiat 500s comin' 'ave we?' 'Naaaa, we ain't'
Me: Well I'm ready to buy a red one if you can find one
Him: No, we havent got any
Me: Are you absolutely positive as I'm ready to buy one...
Him:positive
Me: OK. Bye then!:bang:

So if anyone from Trade Sales reads this, send me an email and you can sell a car by return!

I had the same problem, trouble is you really have to go there to understand what they/and you are dealing with...

The locations spralls across two sides of a main road in slough, and they have approx 1000 cars in stock, and +25 salesman on a weekend. They sell literally 100's of cars a week.

Its not really a case of them needing you, if you want the discount its a case of you needing them.

Your best bet is to get on down there..when I dealt with them there attitude is not dissimilar to that of all the Fiat dealers I have met.

DONT READ THIS if ou just paid full price for a 500

The discounts have started. They started at dealers near me 2 weeks ago and supermarkets this week.

Dealer offering £1400 upgrade so 1.3 or 1.4 for 1.2 price or sport/lounge for pop money but you had to take out their finance agreement and I ended up 500 to 700 quid better off not 1400.:(

Supermarket deals Ive seen offering 500 to 900 pounds off. Not just trade-sales.Look around for yourself I'll get slaggd off for telling y'all abouts the discounted ones and where they are.If U had just paid list price for a 500 last week U would be pee'd off if some mare told you they was discounted now.:devil::slayer:

See also nf500 guy who has his name down for a trade-sales 500
I put link earlier in the thread and will prob get told off for that too.

I would appriciate if you keep me/us up to date with discounts found either while surfing, or on your travels, as in my eyes this can only be good for the consumer.

Intresting thread this one don't reply often on here for certain reasons but this one caught my eye, a "source" of mine who works for trade sales told me about the 500's they would have coming, he also said that they would be a mixture of left hand drive and imported models, as for discount from the dealer no chance not even staff get discounts......

I want £1000+ discount off a 500 so car supermarkets are prob the best bet for me at the mo.

For peeps who are happy with a few hundred pounds off,
the dealer offers such as the 'cost price + £1' deal from T J Vickers could be good. I dont even know where Shropshire is but I was thinking it might help others.

Stoneacre are offering 0% finance now on 500s.
that could appeal to some of you.:)

If you see Any more 500 offers from dealers or car supermarkets put them on here or start a new thread and share the info with everyone.(y)

<The Fiat sales lads who drink near me say 500 sales are so slow for them and some of the other dealers, there will be even bigger discounts on 500s in a few weeks, but they could be wrong, maybe a few hundred squid is the biggest discount you will get for ages, in which case rush out a buy one and enjoy it.>

I thought your boss was buying the car anyway ( early postings) or did he tell you to naff off?(n)
