autoclose facility

I have turned this function on via menu. I would recommend for anti hi-jack or handbag snatch. Is especially suitable to anyone who drives in dodgy areas after dark.

Re: autoclose facility

I presume this is where the car locks once you get to a certain speed? Mine seems to have been put on by default - will be keeping it on

Re: autoclose facility

OMG I was wondering about this as all mercs have it and I have found it v useful in the past! I'm sooo glad that's a function in the car!!! I didn't know that!

I was driving through Edinburgh in a Merc C class and this beemer driver started geting real annoyed with me as I wouldn't let him undertake, so at the lights he got out and tried to open my door!!!...when he couldn't (cos of auto-lock) he just spat impotently on my driver side window....

I grinned and took off. heh..

Re: autoclose facility

So if you crash, how do the emergency services get you out?

Re: autoclose facility

if the collision is so bad that you need to be cut out, i would imagine that all sorts of reactive safety features like fuel cut off, airbags and the such like would have been activated, along with something to unlock the doors.

failing that, if you are in a really mangled wreck, they are going to cut the car apart from around you anyway. i've seen them take the roof off quick and clean, and then proceed to cut away and remove most of the rest including doors, till they had easy access to just the driver in his seat, which was lifted out in one piece.

I don’t care if it’s a porn shoot in which he is being gang raped by a gaggle of silverback apes, if there are cameras rolling, everybody wins. 10 grand for anyone that can deliver this to me, today.

Re: autoclose facility

IIRC the doors have to unlock when the fuel cutoff operates, which is surprisingly easy to set off.
