(G) Phew nearly had a crisis today

Hi all we went into the dealers on saturday to look at the cha cha in the flesh as Linda hadn't seen it and we have one on order, she loved the colour and sat in one again. When I got home today she had been out in her smart car and she told me that she was having doubts about the 500s driving/seating/height position as she said when she sat in it and pumped the seat up she could feel her hair touching the roof, no she doesn't have big hair! The smart sits you high up and she can look down and above the dash and she was thinking she might not like the 500 as it was lower so I insisted we went to the dealer again today which we did and she just sat in one for a while and started to feel better, I said that unless she sticks to smart cars forever any other car will feel a bit different but it's something she will get used to. We left there with her feeling very positive about the car and we are going back next week to take one out when they tax one so she can feel what it's like on the road without a salesman in with her as that will put her off as she thinks he will be judging her driving I know I know it's a nightmare, but I didn't want us to spend the best part of £10.000 for her to always be unhappy with it so I think the crisis is over pointless post I know but I had to tell someone about it

Your not on your own, we too had a similar experience on our 1st visit to see a 500. The wife was not sold on it and we ended up taking a G Punto 1.2 out for a spin (with the salesman & 2 kids). It would'nt pull granny off a pot so looked at the 500 again but she also did'nt want a test drive with a sales person next to her so we left. Straight then to a suzuki garage where she drove a 1.5 swift (ok but a bit bland).
So eventually I got her back to see a 500 and got her to drive it with just me onboard and guess what.......she was smitten, love at 1st test drive.So i would not fret, just let her take the bambino for a spin and the soon she'll be convinced .

Thats why I'm selling my swift! Great car! nothing wrong with it at all but compared to driving round in a little yellow 500 'LUVBUG' what can I say

I love Smarts too, we have a Smart 44 Brabus (goes like stink) but I cant wait to get my 500

What very kind people. I mean it. If I was given all that 'I can't make up my mind' stuff and, 'I can't possibly drive with a salesman', I'd be down the divorce lawyer on the way home. I simply can't do with iffiness in someone else; bad enough in me, in another person, no. Love I suppose. Well done, really, I mean it. Well done. This sort of selflessness really impress me.
It must be almost impossible having to please someone else when you buy a car, or a house, or a kitchen, or a sofa....imagine you don't get what YOU want: grim.
Says a lot about single, uncompromising, me I know; this give and take is a very hard trick to master, and balance. I tried it once....

Hey Andy no worries! My gf didn't need any convincing about the car itself; she was sold on it as we drove into the dealership! We had a LONG discussion about options, colours and wheels though! In the end we decided on her colour and wheels and my options.

I had initially wanted Chazure when I saw it on the configurator with vintage leather but in the metal my gf thought it was a bit 'old man' and i have to admit it was a shade pale for my taste so we went for the Paso Red. Fact is we got everything sorted on the 1st day and it was ME having 2nd thoughts about 1.2 or 1.3, red leather or standard trim etc!!!

So I guess it's always gonna be a more lengthy and stressful process when you've got more than 1 person to please!

Baerius, it's good to know it's not just linda who has had doubts there is a lot to take in, as you know I had doubts about the make itself which have all been aleviated by the good people on this forum, the cha cha is very light when it's a bright day yet looks very blue when it's not as bright if that makes sense! We love the colour and it looks so retro inside with the ivory. I have to say the red inside is stunning as well with the ivory ambience really special, ours is on week build 11 I was told which I think is being built this week if the saleman is correct when is yours due?

Well my guy says it will be delivered mid April but I'm getting this sneaking suspicion that it might be ready end of March!!! Just cos so many on here have been getting theirs early! So I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll be March...

Tbh, I hated my GP when I test drove it. It felt massive, slow and uncomfortable.

Getting used to it now that, still feels bland!

I suspect Id feel the same about the 500, or any new car for that matter

I'm 18 and i hate modern cars lol, strange.
