Watch This Bolt

as it's getting close to that special day when many of you will be getting their 500's it seams the right time to bring this up as something to be aware of.

There appears to be an issue with the bolt that attaches the air intake tube, that leads to the air filter to the front panel

I know of 2 of 3 people that have had the fall out & mine has pulled the brass intsert out of the platic housing, see here for detials.... http://nf500.com/forums/new-fiat-500...heck-bolt.html

Re: Watch This Bolt

Thanks for the heads up, Mark.

Our 500 has done over 1000 miles now, and I hadn't even lifted the bonnet until Sunday, just to check the screen wash and oil levels (which were just fine)!

I didn't notice anything out of place, but will have a look at the airbox bolt when Mrs 'dini arrives at the office in about half an hour (it's her turn to drive the 500 today, goddammit ).

Re: Watch This Bolt

cheers Mark, those sort of inserts do seem to fall out on many cars so not just a Fiat issue. Maybe they need to extend the length of it?

Re: Watch This Bolt

Those inserts are awfull.

If they are going to use them, they need to be a flange head type, also fitted from the other side so i cannot possibly come out.

Re: Watch This Bolt

I just checked ours.

It's absolutely fine. It's nice a solid, and doesn't look as if can be shaken loose from vibrations or the engine rocking. In fact where it meets the main airbox the clips still have a some slack, so I can't see it being a problem.

Which is nice
