two-cylinder turbo engine

Does any one have a clue when it will be coming out not wanting to order a 1.2 then find out this engine comes out soon after.

Re: two-cylinder turbo engine

Not a clue. All information deeply welcome here too.
I gather there will be a 0.7 litre with about 80bhp, and a 0.9 with about 110bhp.

Best guess is 2009 - 2010, so there's no point in holding our breaths.

Originally I read that Fiat would not be sharing this engine with Ford for the new Ka, and then last week in Autocar or somewhere I saw that Ford will be fitting the Fiat twin too. I sincerely hope this is inaccurate because this little motor should give Fiat the real product differentiation it needs. The novel valve technology comes this year, firstly on on some Alfas and the Lancia Delta, so perhaps the twin won't be too far behind?

I give him some change for a bottle, he gives me the inside information his fleet of spy satellites receives.

The Smart forTwo has a 3 cylinder turbocharged engine that has a certain uniqueness but it does not make it a great car or engine however. New engines tend to be heavily slewed to reducig emissions, laudible in itself but not always resulting in a more desireable driving experience.

Sounds like a good working relationship

Can you ask him when my Bravo Sport is going to be delivered, as it appears to have disappeared off the face of the planet?

But the new valve technology is intended to improve response, performance, economy and emissions. Sounds too good to be true I know, but the rumours have all been positive The biggest problem now seems to be balancing it - which is also seemingly solved. Bike engines manage with twins very wll after all - and what a noise!

Still if that tramp in the phone box is any use we should know in eighteen months. This was the time scale of the Italian tramp too.

Re: two-cylinder turbo engine

A few of them I believe, and other cars too. They can't launch such a radical engine without very thorough testing. Fiat has always produced fine motors and this is not the time to foul up.

Re: two-cylinder turbo engine

The tramp in question assures me that the 500 will be replaced in 2014 by a new retro Fiat 126...
