always interesting to see what completely pointless test they will come up with to 'prove' the winner they decided before the tests even start, or some perverse logic for deciding..

Its just a race around a track it seems like. Last week or the week before they had the 100bhp Panda against the Renault Twingo GT.

Vicky will doubtless give some random comments about the interior, the engine, torque, cornering, handling etc but I am sure us 500 people wont car one way or another, just another excuse to see a 500 on tv

Still a pointless test though as the cars are not designed for speed especially on a track. Abarth and Cooper S would be interesting however

So they're going to race 2 cars that were never designed to be raced around tracks to decide which is 'best'...

Think that's another 5th gear I'll be forgetting to watch then.

Its only pointless because we all think the 500 will get slated. Doubtless, if it came out on top wed all be saying "yes, knew it was better than a Mini".

End of the day, I bought a 500 because I like Fiats, I tried a Mini once and didnt like it at all, thats why I dont have one apart from my real one that is!

My idea of fun to drive isnt flat cornering and outright performance, its about noise, tyre squeal, roly poly bodies and the like... exactly why the 500 is for me and not the Mini.

stupiest test I saw them do recently was the MINI petrol vs. MINI Diesel, and they found the fuel economy round a track (which is how most MINI drivers live) was the same, but the diesel was more expensive, so buy the petrol..

hmmm. only trouble being that anyone who has actually driven both know that the difference in economy anywhere other than brand hatch is emmense

I can't wait to see the 500 on TV again I don't care which one wins or loses. The One is going to outhandle the 500, that's obvious, but I'm still happy I'll have a 500 sitting on my drive come the weekend and not a MINI.

Sounds about right to me! Except I'll have mine in the driveway on Friday night.

Yeah mini will win but I care not..saw a clubman today as I was walking and eating my egg, bacon and cumberland breakfast bagel from the bagel factory and almost threw it all up on the pavement as the hideous monstrosity rolled past...
Defo gonna watch 5th gear but will have to set an alarm cos I keep falling asleep whenever I see those dumbass nicey nicey presenters waffling on about handling and racing as if they know anything about that stuff ....snore....
