Insurance Question

Hey all,

get to pick up my new fiat 500 on the 4th of march and cant wait!

just a question about the insurance, the dealership i said to pick it up i need to bring a briefcase full of $1 notes, and an insurance certificate.

how do i obtain this, as im assuming i will have to know the car reg before its insured, but will the dealership be able to give me the reg to insure it, as its an 08 plate?

also does it take long for them to send paperwork through so i can prove the insurance to the dealer?

Cheers again

Re: Insurance Question

Dealer should have a registration for you.
If they don't they soon will. You can then call your insurance and get the paperwork sent out. Usually it is sent first class and arrives very quickly.

Your dealership will need your insurance before you collect the car so that they can register it.

Or are they planning to do it whilst you are there?

Re: Insurance Question

Strange how it varies, my dealer gives 7 days insurance free with Norwich Union to give you time to sort out the insurance and not have to worry about timing of it for the p/x.

Cheers

Re: Insurance Question

thats a bloomin good dealer you have there, never had that offered anywhere.
you can insure your car with its chassis number, and then tell them the reg number when you have it.

Re: Insurance Question

I also got 7 days free insurance with NU when I got the 100HP - made it so much easier for them to tax it, etc.

I get almost every car I sell done on that 7 days deal. It's ace, makes taxing cars without having the customer come back in so much easier.

Re: Insurance Question

thats a great deal, didnt know that was possible for dealers to do that.

cool, ill get the relivent info from my dealer an get it all sorted... cant wait to pick it up

regarding payment, whats the best way to pay for you guys.
cheque, bankers draft, do you guys just pay on a debit/credit card (for £7000+)

didnt really wanna wait for cheques to clear and being a tight arse, dont like paying for bankers drafts (begrudge banks taking money).

personally, id like to pay on my card, but not sure if thats an option as its alot of money.

this is the ebay link of the dealership im going through in the teesside area.

Re: Insurance Question

Debit card without a doubt. Cheque and bankersdrafts take time to clear. Cash is always a pain in the arse. and credit cards have a extra charge on them.

Debit card is the quick and easy way for everyone involved.

Re: Insurance Question

It's easy. you'll just use the chip and pin like normal. Only difference is you bank may flag it as an unusual transaction and there will need to be a phonecall for conformation.

Re: Insurance Question

Aces! I'm gonna use a debit card for mine too, so much easier and quicker...alls I'm worried about is whether my car will come with my spec, I read a thread last night where someone amended an order to a black pop with loads of xtra spec and it's due to be coming as the standard pop! I'm gonna give my dealership a ring this week, not heard from them since I placed the order in January...

Re: Insurance Question

Keep on them dude...it sounds like more than one person on here who tried to amend their order was disappointed. Make sure you get the signed paperwork from your dealer. That means the print out of your amended spec with the signature of your salesman, otherwise you might end up with your original order.

see yoshis thread here:

http://www.fiatforum.com/500/135226-...ot-coming.html

and mine here:

http://www.fiatforum.com/500/132091-...my-dealer.html

Good luck!

Edit; I see you found yoshis thread, sorry.
