(G) Help...our pops not coming

The guy who did my order seems to be a big wig, he hosted the 500 launch party.

I'm just hoping the guy I left the message with passed it onto him 'cos I really want the standard gearknob, no-one will know I've got six gears with the leather gearknob!! lol

One of the reasons I posted my woes was to try n make people aware of this potential problem. What with all the various specs its an accident possibly waiting to happen. Just think it pays to get the dealer to double check that the factory has accepted any changes made to 500 orders. I know that vospers apparently will now be doing this (bit too late tho for me )

I can understand the concern with options such as seats, climate control and sunroofs but most other options can easily be fitted post delivery. The key is though to make sure you have a confirmed list or your options so you don't pay aftermarket prices.

Actually the plate showing the gear layout is sewed or stuck onto the leather gator just below the gearknob so people should see it. Some people don't like the look of it but I quite like that touch, if you wanna see what that looks like have a close look at Zakalla's new yellow 500 here:

to OP at the end of the day you are buying a new car you are paying to have it the way you want it. if i was you i would kick up a stink and say that you think it takes the piss that they happily take your £'X' K punds but cannot deliver the good you orderded. like if you went to a kebab shop and ordered a large ham and pineapple pizza and they gave you a small margarita you would say hey sort this s**t out... i would do the same with a BRAND NEW car.

Wow! Thanks a lot, you're just a wealth of knowledge with these threads...that don't look too bad I suppose so it won't be the end of the world! Extra £50 though, every penny counts

Just a quick update.

I have finally had vospers come back to me basically offering me a upgrade to a lounge spec basically for nothing!! Thats the upside, the down side is that it would have to be crossover black With ivory/check interior & esp.

Really don't know what to do now, the deal is too good to miss but would mean we end up with a black car which only looks great when clean. (suppose it would mean I would spend my sundays polishing it). Delivery would only be a few weeks which is a plus.

Black mmmmmmmm not sure although I see its the Italians favourite colour in one of the colour polls, really not sure what to do now tho

yoshi like your currently not on order strip, hilarious If it were me I wouldn't go for it, yes it's a great deal and the 500 will look great in any colour but I think it will look least impressive in black and it's a nightmare to keep clean it does look stunning in red, it would sit on your drive and you would love it but you would always think of that red The ivory check interior is great though as we are getting that in our lounge....err not in our lounge at home you understand as that wouldn't be great, but well you know what I mean. Don't do it!!!!!!

Fair point suasexed it does look superb trust you to find such good pictures, if it has the ivory ambience like the one in the picture that would be great, but again if it were me I wouldn't do it get the colour and spec you want as you have to live with it once you buy it, and don't forget they look great in black when clean but black gets filthy almost immediately and that would drive me insane, but hey that's just my opinion I bet most others will say go for it Linda has just looked at the black and said in her opinion it does nothing for the car she doesn't like it at all but she loves the red one. It's not the sort of car that needs to be black to look great like a lot of other small cars that's her opinion of which there will be many.

You either love black cars, or you don't. I don't, at all. I reckon the little car looks cutest in plain old white, but I'd like to see some of the blues and that brown/grey before I commit. And all of them in some sunshine. I think the red looks great by the way, but not with the stripes.

Wow Yoshi...difficult choice but a great deal and early delivery!!! YAY! The black looks Absolutely Gorgeous. But, as Armitage says, if you might be one of these people who suffers from 'buyers regret' then it's perhaps better to wait and get exactly what you want.

However....free upgrade to lounge, beautiful ivory interior contrasting nicely with the gloss black dash...it might be too good to resist.

Put it this way; if you NEED a car right now, do it....if you can bear to wait, well then get exactly what you want.

I do not envy you the decision you are faced with.

I think the black & ivory look great. It depends how much you are prepared to keep it clean. I chose a red A3 as I think the car needs a vibrant colour to look anything other than dull, yet that still needs a lot of washing to retain its looks. The 500 has so much more charisma it could get away with looking a little dirty! But it deserves to be washed every week.

There are some great colour combos with the 500. We went for white with a black interior as we wanted a Sport. Mark's Jive blue with a blue and ivory interior looks fantastic. We really liked the red Sport demo's interior and I think the black with ivory looks great too. To be honest there were too many great combos for us to cope with (many nights on the configurator).

All down to personal choice but the black and ivory is a classic retro look IMHO.

Not my final choice but I agree, the classic 60's chic look.

IF you add all the chrome options, and I mean all of them then it might just work, but blacks not for me... the whole shape seems to dissapear. Had a black Vespa once, never again it a nightmare to clean and all the scratches show up instantly too
