My dealer has confirmed that there isn't any chance of getting the upgraded sound system for the 500 anytime early this year... so i was hoping i could do it myself. i have an amplifier and subwoofer but what I'm not sure of is if the standard headunit in the car has the necessary connections. i don't want to lose the headunit the car comes with as any after market one would look hideous compared right?
where can i find out about these connections? i don't think anyone in the showroom would be happy if i walked in with my own screwdriver and hammers to take a look for myself :p
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would that mean it would be best to go for a Blaupunkt subwoofer kit?

If so, which one - There's loads of In Car ones...

?? CONFUSED ??
i have a pioneer subwoofer and pioneer amp. they look lovely together they do. but whats with blaupunkt kit and in car ones??? please explain... can i not use what i already have? thnx

I am actually really pleased with the standard stereo. It's plenty clear and loud enough with good definition. In a car, low frequency harmonics are lost anyway in the tyre and wind noise, so upgrading can't achieve that much clearer sound - unless you're parked of course. I'm glad the upgrade was delayed, saved myself a few bob there! :)

fair enough, tbh i havent heard the standard stereo properly but im not really looking to change too in terms of the standard kit. however, just adding a decent sub and amp can give so much more depth regardless of tyre/wind noise. of course what sounds good to me may not be good for someone else and vice-versa. i'm just trying to make use of a system i already have and trying to find out how i do it tho....

Yeah you may be able to. What I was saying is, if you don't already have a subwoofer, would a Blaupunkt active sub (including amp) attach up to the standard Blaupunkt headunit alright?

you can get an special adapter which wires across the left and right channel's (i used the rear as it would mean a shorter RCA cable run (it also needs earthing to the cars chassis)

The wires are marked Left+, Left-, Right+, Right- and Earth..
