My wife tested a 500 1.3 Lounge over the weekend and thought it was a bit wallowy

Does anyone know if the Sport trim changes / tightens the suspension at all ?

Other than that lovely car extremely well equipped good ride on 16 in optional wheels beautiful pale blue with cream interior and a helpful dealer at Ancaster Welling

Really? The Sport 1.4 was a decent enough drive, not wallowy. I thought the whole point was the stiffer suspension. Oh well, learn something new everyday! :)

It's an easy mistake to make, as usually a 'Sport' badge indicates a different suspension set-up etc to the rest of the range.

The reason the Sport you drove felt like it had sporty suspension is because it was a 1.4. Had it been any other engine it would have felt different.

The only difference between a Sport and a Pop/Lounge with the same engine is that the seats hold you in place a bit better, so it will feel slightly different to drive.

Piccadilly Autos Wakefield have a 1.2 Pop on 14s in their showroom.I'm not sure you'll like the look of it though with its big wheel-arch gap.
Ask nicely and they might let you take in for a test drive

You dont want to know what the guys at Piccadilly do to timewasters, but
if all else fails run like 'ell. I recommend these special Fiat500 running shoes

I want some of those

Me too - in fact I'm the sort that likes to go the whole hog and get the complete matching outfit. (y)

I'm going to have to check out that Wigmore Street showroom/shop when it opens as i reckon they'll have the lot in there.

The Pop looks pants on 14 inch wheels then, the male models in the background of that pic dont look up to much either - typical Wakefield guys really. :(

Massive wheel arch gaps with 14s - crap or what.

The 14 inch wheel/tyre setup actually fills the arches MORE than the 16 inch setup, by 1mm. :)

Why do they look worse on that pic with 14s then?

Red 1.4SPORT on 16s looks like not as big wheelarch gap? [/IMG]

Springs on ALL 1.4 500s (Sport lounge AND Pop 1.4s) are supposed to be different, to the ones on ALL 1.2s/1.3 500s (Sport lounge AND pop), do these *different* 1.4 springs make a difference to the ride height and wheel arch gap (and ride quality) do we know?

It might just be the visual difference from the edge of the wheel rim to the arch, rather than the edge of the tyre to the arch. So 16s will look as though they fill the arches better, although it's not really the case.

And yes, if the Pop has taller suspension than the other two, then the tyre-to-arch gap will be bigger whatever wheels you have.
