General 1.2 versus 1.3

OK I'll add to the debate.....drove the 1.4 Sport on Thursday....good fun - could be better but still loved it.....Waiting to place my order until my test of the 1.2.....
My dealer says its another 2-3 weeks before they get a 1.2? Anyone else actually driven the 1.2? Did not think they were here yet?
Have to admit I am driven my price of the 1.2 but as mentioned here Euro Journo's seem to say its the pick?
Can only recommend Nuova500shop.com - I have seen the Nuova 500 Shop car and they have made a real transformation on it, can;t wait to go out in it soon.......

We have the 1.2 sport as I said earlier it's now loosening up nicely and is the ideal tool for around town, but if you do a lot of mway miles or live in a hilly area I'd recommend the SDE. On the subject of re calibration I find it interesting the claims that are made for the SDE, as FPT have to resort to a different ECU, Calibration and VGT to get a reliable and driveable in all conditions 90 ps. I guess the key here is reliability and driveability.

Excuse me for being clueless but what do SDE, FPT, ECU and VGT stand for and mean?

And yes...for me the issue is reliability and longevity and as such I went for the diesel as I believe they are more robust and about 25% more economical than a petrol...a bit like a rugby player compared to a footballer in some respects I suppose....;)

Also asked the dealer to idle their 1.3 in the showroom for 10 seconds or so and I couldn't believe how quiet it was..(y) for the Multijet

Sorry FPT is Fiat Powertrain Technologies, SDE is the internal name for the MJ 1.3 Small Diesel Engine, and VGT is Variable Geometry Turbine or Turbo

thanks....i guess VGT is a bit like the variable vein turbo in the audi deisels? (VVT)

thanks for that.(y).. these forums rock...gotta go too much time spent trawling excitedly through:bang::D
