General So Who Has Actually Ordered One?

I've ordered a white lounge 1.4 with red leather, 16" alloys, dark rear windows etc. I'm told I should get it on launch day. My last Fiat was a Barchetta which I kept as a fun car for around 5 years. Had a string of Fiats when I started driving including 126, 127 1050 Sport, 127 1300GT, a few Strada 60CLs, a Strada 105TC Mk II and a Tipo DGT. Moved on a bit since then though so the Fiat will have interesting garage mates. Saw the new 500 and just had to have one for fun (y)

Cheers pwig. I wanted to make it stand out a bit and have never had red leather before. I really wanted Funk white and was disappointed that this colour has been delayed but couldn't be bothered waiting another 9 months to get it so solid white it is.

Just dug out my spec:

1.4 Lounge
Bossa Nova white
Red leather/ivory steering wheel
Chrome mirrors
16" 17 spoke alloys
Dark rear glass
ESP
Parking sensors
Auto dimming mirrors
Fog lights
Side protection strips
Rear spoiler
Climate control
Sub woofer
Red brake callipers

I think it's just our dealership though. The only Fiats that sell well here are sportings and Panda 100HPs :D

that's basically the exact spec i will be after. do you mind me asking how much that lot cost?

jimowl,

Before I added ESP, subwoofer, parking sensors, auto-dimming mirror, red calipers and rear spoiler it was around £11,900. I'm guessing it will end up around £12,500 ish though my dealer has not got back to me with a final prie as yet. Perhaps pwig can tell me the price of these options?

I agree it's not cheap but when compared to a Mini I think it's pretty good. It'll be interesting to see what the average spend turns out to be on this car as it is going to appeal to a much wider audience than Fiat is used to. Chic design sells and this little car is like the Mini and the Golf in its classless appeal. The only concerning issue in my book will be the service given by the dealer network which has never had a brilliant reputation.

@pwig - Approx how many 500s are you expecting to go out of your garage to customers on 21 Jan - and are they mainly male or female buyers - for a slightly feminine car there seem to be a lot of men interested in 500s.

@KevinB - Are we goin to do a Ford Ka/Fiesta convoy over the M62 to see pwig, he might have a 1.2 Pop for you if they dont rate them much over there?:)

:) December I'll be going to whichever dealer is first to get a 1.2 Pop or Lounge demonstrator to try.

 December/January if it's good on ordinary roads I will be going (with my cheque book) to wherever in the UK there's a fairly standard 1.2 for sale in a bright colour with immediate delivery: unwanted dealer demo, cancelled order or whatever.

I'll start a new thread for that and do a bit of grovelling to dealers a bit nearer the time.:D I definately need to test drive one first.:p

Back on topic: Anyone else actually ordered one?

Seems people have lots more money than sense eh? Whats wrong with a standard 1.2 Lounge at £9300, how can you possibly want to spend 12k on a small Fiat, madness I tell ya:)

Nothing wrong with having a basic model but you're missing the point of the 500 I think. Fiat are offering all of these options for a reason.... they are after a slice of the profits BMW have enjoyed from the Mini and for the first time in Fiat's history they have made a cool car that can be highly personalised by the owner. I'm not at all surprised that pwig has said only one of his sales has dipped below £11,500. My dealer said much the same thing. There are plenty of good value, reliable cars out there for budget conscious buyers but apart from the Mini which is at least a third more expensive again on a like for like basis there is nothing that can be tailored to individual taste like this car.
