Seven finalists have just been announced for Car of the Year 2008.
  • Fiat 500
  • Ford Mondeo
  • Kia Cee'd
  • Mazda2
  • Mercedes C-Class
  • Nissan Qashqai
  • Peugeot 308
I think's it's going to be a close vote between 500 and Mondeo. Let's hope the jury members vote 500 (y) which in my opinion deserves to win!

The final result will be announced on November 19th, 2007.

Fiat have prob got the 500 brochures printed with
"Euro caroftheyear 08 winner"
printed in it already -

Surely you mean close between the 500 adn the Nissan Cashcow...... no maybe not eh! How on earth did that God awful creation make it to production, let alone a short list of finalists!

Fiat/Alfa will always win the COTY award, its written (mainly on the back of a cheque though :D )

Either that or the Dons Gun.

Well the awards are given at the end of the year, they just use the following year as the award title. Come January 2008 'Car of the Year 2007' would sound dated, even though the car would have been awarded just a month or so previous. So I guess that's why it's 'Car of the Year 2008' even though it's not quite 2008 :)

Its got to be the 500 as the winner hasnt it. not much competition from the others

Got to agree, but mostly because the others look so unappetizing. I mean, Peugeot 308? WTF? I haven't seen any reviews but I imagine knowing Ford's form the Mondeo is a well thought-out car and must be the principle rival. Much as I love the 500 (considering I haven't even seen let alone driven one!) I don't reckon it moves-on the small car concept in the same way that perhaps the Panda did. But if it's on ideology and its execution, 500 all the way. Now, let's get a fiver on at Ladbrookes... :D
