Question trading my 500 sport with 500e. good idea?

ok so i live in Edinburgh UK but am moving back to Canada in two months.

I have a 500 sport which i want to trade with 500e. Wondering if anyone has a 500e? what are the disadvantages or advantages for this car?

im going to US to buy one since we dont have it in Canada

cant afford to buy Tesla but 500e is a good start to stop using gas and helps the environment

I really appreciate your help guys

I had to Google 500e, would doubt anyone here would have one, a Nissan Leaf costs 30,000 ish, a new 500 1.2 is 8k you can get a Jaguar for the Nissan price, whilst it may be environmentally good, suggest you get a petrol.

No-one in the UK would have one, but in fairness the OP did post in the 500 USA section As far as I know they were only sold in Cali, so I would think taking one as far away as Canada might cause issue when it comes to repairs and servicing as the dealer network outside of CA won't be geared up to maintain them.

You would also have to transport it by train, given the range?

Take a petrol generator in the boot.

Now why does that Top Gear sketch where they try to make an electric car spring to mind?

I'd advise against this, although it does depend on where you are going to be living in Canada. The problem is being able to charge it. Canada is not a densely populated country. It's not uncommon to have to drive 20kms on average to get to basic places (groceries, malls, etc). It really depends on where you live.

For example, if you are in a populated city, like Toronto or Halifax, you'd be fine, but if you are on the outskirts, the range is not going to be good enough for every day commuting.

I would suggest to stick with a gas/petrol powered Fiat 500. I'm in the Waterloo region (tech sector of Ontario). I see people with Nissan Leafs and Teslas all the time. I've spoken with a Leaf owner and he regrets his decision. He's always planning trips on where he can charge the car (no charge station at work). He can only charge it at home.

The electric car hype hasn't really kicked off here like in the US. There are basically no charging stations. The best compromise is a hybrid vehicle such as the Toyota Prius.
