I recently bought a used 2012 Fiat 500 POP. and Oddly, it doesn't come with a usb port except for an aux port.

What I have in mind was that I found a wrecked fiat 500 sport (,which has a usb port and an aux port) and was going to get the radio and the usb port from that car.
Do you think if I replace my radio and hook the ones up to my car, would it work flawlessly? or do I need any computer update of my Fiat?
As I know, I think the radio connects to the main computer and the computer gives the signal to the usb port. I'm not sure if im getting it right.

Nope, not that simple sadly. Faaaar easier to buy a lounge or sport than doing all the work required.

Have you tried it? I don;t know why it;s not a possibilty.
I wonder if 3rd party navigation will work on my fiat, which usually comes with a usb and an aux.

The USB is linked via the Blue&Me Convergence unit, so on a pop with no B&M there is nowhere for the USB to connect, as it does not connect to the radio but the convergence unit, which you are missing in the POP.

The convergence unit is connected to the body ecu, the body ecu is connected to the costs loads of money to get reprogrammed unit, the costs loads of money to get reprogrammed unit is connected to the more economical and less painful to just but a lounge or sport unit.

plus you also need a new steering wheel.

And a microphone

I believe the information here is outdated.
Im not sure if you guys are familiar with 2012 Fiat pop made in USA.
Most of Pop model comes with a usb and also Blue & me. (that is a basic trim)
and only few early 2012 pop were provided without blue & me.

There are also models which come with au Aux port or without. I think the radio which comes with an aux might support a usb though.

Sorry, I was replying on my phone so didn't realise that you were americanian, but the procedure for adding B&M is still the same.

Yes, I'm americarian.
Do you think http://www.diycardvd.com/2007-2012-...car-audio-video-navigation-system-p-1920.html this will work for my 2012 Fiat pop though?

If this unit is for early Fiat models(2007-2012) which didnt have Blue & me obviously, the explanation above is not understandable.

If everything needs to go through the convergence unit, then how does this dvd/navi unit connect its usb to the old convergence unit which doesnt have a usb port
unless the usb port from the radio can handle decoding from the radio's end.

This Navi/dvd unit comes with a usb port, an aux port , built in microphone, support bluetooth.
Also, I think the difference of buttons on a steering wheel between the fiat with blue & me and the one without is just a few more wire connections.

You don't have a convergence unit. Yes that unit will work, but if you buy a steering wheel with controls on it, then that won't talk to the new unit.

Not to ask a stupid question but.....

The USB port is covered by the windows logo. Try sliding that away from the aux port and it might reveal the USB port.

I had the same voyage of discovery after picking up the 500 and looking in all the places I'd expect the port to be only to find it under the cover...duh!!:bang:
