| | Re: 500 Sound Insulation - Rear Section Thanks for the comments ![]() I used Envirofelt 50oz for about £35 a roll, used about half a roll so enough left to do the floor as well: http://www.tradepriced.co.uk/enviro_felt_underlay.html Envirolay 54oz looks similar: http://www.flooring-exposed.com/envi...05-m2-27-p.asp And the self-adhesive sheets I mention, the market leader is Damplifier but quite pricey and time consuming to fit, hence why I didn't bother: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/seco...lk-p-5503.html And here's the trim removal tool: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/seco...er-p-5887.html Cheers! | ||

| | Re: 500 Sound Insulation - Rear Section The results are good. I've not had my dB meter on it yet but there is a very noticable improvement. There's still a lot of noise, the thing with sound is that it only needs a small gap to come through (for example, opening the window on a concrete motorway just a fraction will let nearly as much noise in as when fully open). So really the test will be once the rest of the floor pan is done. That said the really higher-pitched tyre noise is significantly reduced and that makes voices on the radio a lot easier to hear. This won't show with a dB meter, a graphical spectral analysis would show it though. I wish I'd recorded a sample of road noise before so I could put up the before/after on the same stretch of road! | | Re: 500 Sound Insulation - Rear Section The clips don't seem to break and slot into the panels so can be replaced (if they do or if they drop down where you can't reach etc). The Abarth might have more O.E. insulation, but it can always be improved on. I'm working on some decoupled barriers for the rear section, but it's too cold to be fiddling about in a car at the minute so won't have more info until the spring unfortunately. Cheers | ||

Just a quick question though, when you ordered that Enviro Felt you said you used half a roll, how many square metres was that? On the site the only option I can see is to 'Add to Basket' at £1.64 which I'm guessing is just 1 square metre? How much did you order?

| | Re: 500 Sound Insulation - Rear Section Hi, I ordered a full 15 sq m roll which was enough for the rear section and floor plan. I also ordered some of the thinner material for under the rear seat and boot flooring but I'm not sure that really made much difference. | ||
