I require some help please boys and girls. I have managed to sort out my brake problem (new set of shoes , with new self adjusters on seems to have been the cure), but still wish to fit front disc brakes over the winter. I have sorted out how to fit a dual-system master-cylinder, without having to attack the bodywork, but have to come up with a method of fitting a different (remote from master-cylinder) brake-light switch. One method is to modify the pedal-box so that I can fit the brake-light switch off a 126. Has any body out there got a spare pedal-box (complete with clutch and brake pedal) from a RHD 500 (F or L) that they would be prepared to sell me? The basic housing from a LHD car is the same I believe, but the pedals are biased over to the left, hence my need for a RHD unit, where the pedals are biased to the right,

Tom...
I think I have a RHD pedal box.. but I don't really want to sell it....
however If you want we can do a swap, so I can send you my box and when you have done what you need to and swapped them over you can send me yours.

Obviously buying one would be your preferred solution...
I have been out of the UK for a while but back for a couple of weeks, and will be off again, so I will not be desperate for the return box...

let me know.. if you can't find what you need and we can hopefully sort .

Peter

Thank you for that very kind offer Peter, I will take you up on it. If nothing else, having a RHD version in my hand (without having to strip the car apart) will help me to design how to modify one to take a pedal operated switch. Obviously, I would prefer to buy one, but it would seem that they are not a common part (!), so I have to think of other ways to achieve what I want. I will e-mail you direct with my home address.

I have tried to send you a direct e-mail----let me know if it has arrived--if it doesn't I will try again (the system kept telling me that I couldn't send another e-mail for 15secs; repeatedly!).

Hi Are you converting your car to right hand drive. If so I have a steering box and all linkages for a right hand drive car.The box has a lot of play but you may be able to adjust it I couldn't.I know the right hand drive boxes are almost impossible to source.I have converted mine to steering rack from a 126.

Nope nothing arrived...
I have found the box out and yep rhd...
I am tied up for the next couple of days so would not be able to post... but just message me your email address and we can sort things...
I will not be in a rush to have it back... I'm just one of those hoarders who realizes something will be hard to find should he need it so buys somethings when he sees them. I also appreciate that being able to look at things off the car can make life easier if you need to adapt something...

I also need to pick your brain ref. boats....

1st of all, thank you Bryan for your very generous offer, but by car is a RHD version, but hold onto those parts because, as you so correctly stated, RHD steering parts are like rocking-horse ####!
Peter, my e-mail address is:[email protected] I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi tom,

ping'd you a mail... I have dismantled the box to fit in the only packaging box I had to hand, I'm sure assembly will be within your abilities, and got it ready to post early this morning....
I am probably off in the next hour or so and can't really get to a post office or such to send it... but will do as soon as I get back...

P.
