So i got the chance to travel for the first time with my little devil. I had a 200km's (120 miles) trip for which i was very skeptical. About 80 kilometers at the highway and the rest had to climb a mountain and then down again. So i started my trip early in the morning to avoid high Greek summer temperatures.
At the highway i was doing 70 to 90km's and then it came the hill climb! I thought that i will do this with 2nd gear and 20 maybe 30 kilometers and lot of patience. In my surprise little fiat was climbing with 3rd gear and 50+ kilometers:slayer: I done the whole route in just 40 minutes more than i usually do with other (real) cars! i think that as soon as i rebuild all the mechanical parts of my car, engine-gearbox etc i can go everywhere with it and with style:D Sure a 650 engine will make things better but this is not a mast modification to do, 500cc can handle it good.

Thomas, you found out what seems to be secret (for some people) about Fiat 500s; give them a big driving job to do and they do it easily.(y)
I am really pleased for you and I know the happy/satisfied feeling you have in getting to your destination.
My car did 350 km today and with no special preparation....I just jump in and go. the difference is that it was raining almost all the way, which I bet did not happen to you.:)

Your car is looking great! (y)

I couldn't help but notice the new alloy sump!!!

Whenever people question the ability of these little Fiats, I always remind them of what Fiat designed them for. To offer low-cost transport to families and enable them to travel anywhere. Iirc, Italy has a few 'hills'. :D

Just like Citroen did with the 2CV. Both even have twin cylinder air-cooled engines!

Regards,

Al.
