Hi everyone I've just got Bella my third 500. I've used carol Nash for insurance in the past has anyone any suggestions for anyone else? I'll post some pictures soon.

I don.t know if its any interest but I have 4 cars insured by Admiral Multi Car for under £400.59 Frogeye ,69 Mini ,72 500 L and a 2009 Astra all fully comp.
Obviously with restricted mileage on the classics but they are all insured at an agreed value Bryan

Whenever I have looked at this it always works out more..
When you started the Policy did you have 1 car then added the others?
If so which was first...?
(obviously I appreciate they Pro Rata it till the renewal then it moves forward with all 4 cars)
Do you have a breakdown of what each costs (if not rude to ask) and what are your mileage limitations..
and what about that age old subject of Agreed valuations?

How it came about I was looking on line like everybody else and I went on the Admiral website put a few details in about the Fiat it being the last car for me to finish.Anyway the quote was to expensive so I didn't bother. A couple of days later they rang me up and I insured the Fiat first then the others as they came up for renewal. The Fiat is I think insured for £8,000 ,the Frogeye for about £11,000 and the MK2 Mini for £6,000. All are on limited milage (about 2000 ) but thats ample for me. I must add I have not had a claim for at least 20 years , so maximum no claims. All I had to do to get fixed values was to send lots of photo's and pay £10 valuation fee .Valid for two or three years. Hope this helps. While I am on here I have breakdown cover from the AA and all four vehicles are listed on the policy at no extra charge. £99 per year. Don't forget to ring them when you get a reminder for about £140 and they will reduce it to the £99. Well worth doing for piece of mind.

I have mine with Footman James. ~£100 when it was on the road, £53 whilst it's off the road being restored.

Classics I use Adrian Flux, but with a 206SW costing me nearly £250 and I too have ooodles of NCB, has to be worth a look...

Breakdown I have covered (ha ha)
open your bank account with Nationwide, not sure which account but not a really expensive one...
about £10 a month charge and .. Travel Insurance for all family and full breakdown cover inc Europe, some other things like phone and such but used the Breakdown and had a car recovered from Calais... I would have left it there but they couldn't get me a car big enough to put all our stuff in to drive back to the UK, so they got us back... then shipped the car and I found out it cost them almost £3k and it was not worth £1k I would have offered to drive back and collect our stuff, not sure what the storage charge was but it took them 2 months.

Really must have a look at Admiral... I know I always over estimate my mileage.. at one time I could have drive to Oz and Back I think with what I had put down...

Brentacre...about £110 including breakdown (Cambridge area so probably middle/low risk). Doesn't have ncb as classic car insurance. Seems dirt cheap compared to my Admiral multi car covering my main car and two others for my 23/25 year old sons!!!

I am with 'Footman James'--probably not the cheapest, but when I was in a real spot because my previous insurer didn't have the courtesy to advise me that, as my wife and I were going to be living on our narrow-boat for a bit of time (but the car was in a secure garage, covered by security light and CCTV as well as being on private property) they wouldn't insure me because--we were living on a boat!--and all just 2 weeks before we were scheduled to move. My insurance with F/J not only has a guaranteed value but also hand me back the car should it be written off (it has quite a number of 'goodies' on it)---I recommend them, they gave me 1st class service.

FJ quoted me £161 on phone which is rediculous, Adrian flux on line was £140 but advised me to phone as they'll be cheaper. Not able to explain the mods on line 600cc, 126 box, 126 wheels and drum brakes so I'll phone them tomorrow. Last time I had a 500 a few years ago I was paying £85 with Carole Nash so I'll try them as well. Most cc insurers don't allow no claims.

I think I'm paying around £65 for 5000 miles limited, a measly £6500 of cover and a 650 engine. Basically they just went with the number 65. ;)

Also a very good company to deal with.

Then again I am quite mature (in age) and I'm a very safe driver (on paper).

They also assess the likelihood of being involved in crash with another vehicle... and as the possibility of you encountering another car within those 5000miles driving round the highlands is unlikely I'm surprised they don't offer you free insurance.
They could then say in their adverts "Insurance from £0" and be perfectly above board...
Perhaps a thread on all peoples insurance costs, mileage, values would be very useful as there seems to be little logic to prices... (if people are willing to divulge).
I pay around £110 with £15k value and 3000 miles West Mids/Staffs border with Flux.
but £250 on a 206SW and £280 on a Shogun, I have seen prices really go up in the last 2 years on normal cars... So really these Multi car polices may be getting better.

NCB always does my head in, some offer 9+ others 6, and found that if I had 9+ but moved to a 6 year only then after that year they would only confirm 6 years.
With Multi car do they retain individual NCB as I have built up 3 sets of 6-9 years and don't want to loose them.

Adrian flux £141 I told them that was silly for 2000 miles. They said it was because of my mods. 600 engine, 126 gearbox, 126 wheels and brakes. When I said no they came up with £106 which I refused on principle as they had tried to fleece me.
Carole Nash came up with £100 when I said flux was just over that. Wife's on as well so I've gone for that.

But you failed to mention that to qualify for extra discount you have to wear a flat cap, have a tartan blanket on the rear parcel shelf with a box of tissues on top and a walking stick in the footwell to ward of any road rage attacks.:D

Also if you to happen to come another car on the Highlands roads your premium will automatically double! Failure to report this could result in immediate imprisonment in Porterfield Prison! I do my research.(y)

Flat cap...check; needed to keep the baldy head warm with the roof open in summer.
Tartan blanket...check; needed to delay hypothermia on our high altitude roads in the unlikely event of a breakdown.
Tissues...no; but babywipes yes; for cleaning up hands after the inevitable tinkering with engine that takes place on route in order to avoid said breakdown.
Walking stick...no; but camera tripod instead, which would serve the same function.
As for other cars...nonsense; the Highlands is full of cars.:D

Flat cap...check;
Tartan blanket...

do you have to declare the "Thermos"?
and the bag of "Worthers Originals"
both of which unless adequately secured could cause serious injury due to sudden braking...
and those are not cars.. you need new glasses they are called "Sheep"

The Thermos flask is standard issue for driving in Scotland, and its associated risks are counterbalanced by the positive contribution those micro-cups of tea make to driver concentration; although I must say, pressing the button to release the tea whilst moving is a bit of a challenge.
It's also very challenging to unwrap those sweets whilst wearing my leather driving-gloves, so I get a small discount on the insurance premium to reflect the reduced chances of having an unsecured load of boiled sugar.

You have inadvertently pointed out some actual hazards in the Highlands, sheep, cows and most seriously...deer!

Hi,
I would imagine that a supervisor authorised the staff member you spoke to to remove the admin fee from your quotation. As a company we do normally operate with a minimum £35 fee which would make sense from figures you were quoted. Most brokers do operate with some form of admin fee I'm afraid.
Regards,
Dan.
