Styling side mirrors

Styling side mirrors

Yeah, more stress compared to hinge side I suspect. Hopefully I just had a weak casting or something, but maybe just be conscious of it and try not to slam the doors too hard!!

Yes I must bear that in mind (y) although I'm chuffed to be able to say that my doors close very nicely :D, needing very little effort since I replaced the door rubbers, and certainly a whole lot easier than the '73 L I had prior to buying my D which really needed slamming, to the extent that it cracked the paint where the driver's side rear panel had been filled when repaired :eek::eek:

I’ve gone with the gordinir8 look for my mirrors. I wanted clip on as I didn’t want to drill holes. I actually got them from a UK based seller via eBay as unusually it worked out cheaper. They didn’t charge shipping costs as opposed to what looks like the same mirrors on Axel Gerstl would have cost me an additional 10€ in shipping.

They are very shiny but go with the rest of my patina free car:D

I personally like the upside down look and they work well on both sides.

Don’t know why the pictures come out sideways but if you click on them they correct themselves?

Looks great!

How do these ones clip on?
I had one on a mini once, which clampedvia two small screw fittings
However on tightening it actually cracked the finish in the paint :(

There are two little Allen key grub screws that you tightened up that hold it to the door frame. There is plastic gasket type thing that protects the outside of the frame where the mirror clamps. There is a risk of over tightening but I nipped it up and used loctite nut lock to hold the grub screw in case of vibration working it loose. Topped up with a squirt of waxoyl on the bracket just in case it had cracked the paintwork.

Very nice (y)

Since I am transforming a little by little my car to look more like an Abarth I am thinking to replace my mirrors with those California style in picture. I have the same concern if the r/h will be visible from l/h drivers seat. Anyone has this particular type?
